It was nearing dusk when Celeste Harper stood in the kitchen, stirring a pot of congee.
She heard a car pull up outside. Through the window, she spotted a tall figure hurriedly getting out and striding into the yard.
Ethan Shaw rushed in without even bothering to change his shoes and made a beeline for the kitchen, his voice cold and accusing.
"Did you tell the cops that Nora Murray killed Grandpa?"
"I did."
Ethan’s face darkened. "Why would you do that?"
"I just told them the truth."
His hands clenched into fists. Clearly frustrated, his voice rose. "Truth? You call that truth—saying Nora murdered Grandpa? She was with me all day at training. The entire Yannburgh military base can vouch for her."
