Chapter 103
Ethan's grip was a little rough, almost squeezing the air out of her lungs. Just when Celeste thought she was about to be "murdered" like this, the tension in his arms suddenly released, and his low voice brushed past her ear.
"Tired today? Sleeping this early?"
Celeste's eyes darted around, and she didn't have to look in a mirror to know her face was probably bright red. She was curled in his arms, barely able to breathe. In a moment of panic, she grabbed onto the only excuse she could think of.
"Didn't you say you had something to tell me? I'm up, I'll listen."
"You only have ears? No other way to feel things?"
His voice was deep and too close, the warmth of it brushing her ear and leaving a trail of static buzzing in her head. Her entire body was tense; her brain just utterly froze.
After a long pause, she blurted out, face burning, "What's that supposed to mean?"
Ethan stayed silent for a beat-maybe a little exasperated, maybe a little annoyed-then gently patted her head.
"Sleep."
