Chapter 39 Foolishly Mistaking a Murderer for Her Savior
Annie hesitated for a moment, as if making a difficult decision. She bit her lip, then finally pulled out her phone and tapped on a photo.
"Dr. Lawson, could I bother you with one more thing?"
William had been ready to say, "Spit it out so I can go catch up on sleep," but had to swallow the words on his tongue after seeing the troubled look in her eyes.
He impatiently ran a hand through his hair. "Say it."
"Please take a look at this prescription."
She handed him the phone. A clearly photographed medical prescription was displayed on the screen—one she'd once naively believed was proof of how hard Sean had worked to save Irene.
William lazily took the phone and glanced at it. In the next second, all traces of nonchalance vanished from his face.
"Fuck!"
He nearly crushed the phone in his hand. What trashy prescription was this?
