Curtis's tone made Delia freeze for a second. He had never spoken to her with such harshness before. Not even before she turned her life around-back when she made one bad decision after another-had he raised his voice like this.
But now, it was unmistakable: he was actually mad at her.
Even though her eyes were filled with hurt, Curtis steeled himself and said what he had to, "Starting tomorrow, I'll be handling your security. Wyatt is out. He's not suitable."
Delia's eyes widened. "Why?"
Curtis's gaze darkened. "As your bodyguard, he let you end up in danger. Isn't that reason enough to fire him?"
"No way! You can't just replace Wyatt!" Delia grabbed his arm tightly. "You can't do this!"
Curtis stared at her, brows furrowed. After a pause, he asked, "Give me one good reason."
"He... he saved my life," she said, voice trembling. Without him, her past life probably would've ended before it ever got another chance.
