Matthew's smile froze the second Delia frowned in disgust at him, especially after her words sliced through the air. His expression turned stormy. "Delia. What the hell do you mean by that?"
"Huh? What did I say? What 'that' are you even talking about?" Delia blinked like she was confused. "Matthew, your sudden outburst doesn't make any sense. Do you have... communication issues or something? Oh wait, I get it now-it's gotta be a language defect. But don't worry, I won't make fun of you for that. I'm a good kid raised with traditional values, I treat everyone equally."
"Delia. Don't push it."
"Okay, fine. I'll zip it if that makes you feel better," she said casually, then added with mock seriousness, "I'm just not great with words. If I blurt out some inconvenient truth, just ignore it, alright?"
"You..." Matthew's good mood was in pieces now. His jaw clenched as he snarled, "Fine. Let me get straight to the point."
