Delia was caught completely off guard by Curtis's sudden and forceful kiss.
Against his overwhelming strength and overflowing emotion, her struggles seemed pitifully weak.
That aggressive grip on her soon mellowed; the fierce kiss softened into one full of longing and desperation.
He clung to her like she was the only thing keeping him afloat, pouring silent fear into every lingering touch of his lips.

When the kiss finally broke, the car was filled only with the sound of their ragged breathing.
Curtis pulled back just a little, but still held her tightly, making sure she had nowhere to run.
His forehead rested against hers, his breath warm against her moist, reddened lips.
His dark eyes, deeper than ever, burned with a possessiveness that almost felt suffocating.
"Delia," he said in a low growl, "hear me clearly-don't you ever say the word divorce again."
