Olivia gave a small nod.
She trusted Clara Bennett because Luke Miller trusted her.
So, for her, that was enough.
A little while later, Clara walked into the hospital room to check on Luke.
He was still unconscious, oxygen tube in place, lying quietly.
Clara stepped closer and gently pressed her fingers against his wrist, feeling for his pulse.
She wanted to know how he was really doing.
“He should be waking up by now,” she murmured to herself.
Almost as if on cue, Luke’s eyelashes fluttered a little. Slowly, he opened his eyes.
When he saw Clara’s face right in front of him, his brain couldn’t quite catch up—he felt like he was still dreaming.
Waking up and seeing the person he’d missed the most… Yeah, definitely a dream.
And honestly? He didn’t mind staying in this dream a bit longer.
So he shut his eyes again.
“Luke, hey, wake up,” Clara called softly.
Wait—this wasn’t a dream?
He opened his eyes again and met her gaze.
In a raspy, almost dazed voice, he mumbled, “Boss…”
