Chapter 722

Jane was working alongside her sister at the snake house construction site, wearing thick gloves as she helped the workers carry bricks. When she spotted Frederick arriving with Bryan, her large, dark eyes shining like scattered diamonds lit up instantly. She dropped the brick in her hands and toddled over as fast as her short legs could carry her. "Brother Frederick! What brings you here?" Standing beside Frederick, Bryan rarely one to compete for attention pouted playfully. "Jane, I came in with Frederick too. Do you only have eyes for him?" Quickly shuffling over, Jane grabbed Bryan’s arm and swung it back and forth, her sweet, childish voice cooing, "Brother Bryan~" Meanwhile, Harold had finished packing inside and stepped out, calling to Mina. "Mina, let’s go. Time to get what you need." Bryan, still clueless, leaned down to ask Jane, "What’s Mina buying?" Jane’s expression turned odd as she tiptoed closer, whispering conspiratorially, "Sister wants to buy snakes... venomous ones!" Bryan’s pupils dilated in shock. Bending down, he hissed into her ear, "Does Mina plan to sic them on that scumbag Huan?" Jane: "..." Before she could recover from his bizarre assumption, Bryan leaned in again, murmuring in a hushed tone, "Look, I get it Huan’s a piece of work, and nothing’s too harsh for him. But killing someone with venomous snakes is still illegal. Remember how Sophia got sent to prison for trying that on you and Mina?" He glanced around before adding, "If Mina’s dead set on this, let the Tyrant handle it after she buys the snakes. He’s a sly old fox he’ll know how to get the job done without leaving a trail for the cops." Jane: "..." Does John even know this is how Bryan sees him? With utmost seriousness, Jane looked up at Bryan, her tiny voice earnest. "Don’t worry, Brother Bryan. Sister’s only buying them to study snake venom not for anything bad." "Also, don't ever mention Huan's name in front of sister again!" Bryan let out a relieved sigh and patted his chest. "Don't worry, I know better than that!" Meanwhile, Jane freed up a hand to grab Brother Frederick's, tilting her tiny face upward. "Brother Frederick, are you coming with us?" "Of course!" Frederick replied without hesitation. Jane naturally shared her excitement with him. "Today, Brother Harold is paying for the snake it's a gift for sister. So, he's buying me a gift too! I picked out this super cool toy motorcycle I saw earlier!" Frederick gazed at her with nothing but adoration in his eyes. "Then I'll have a toy motorcycle track built for you at home." The moment those words left his mouth, not only was Jane completely won over, but even Mina couldn't resist the idea. Tugging cautiously at Harold's sleeve, Mina whispered, "Brother Harold, you're my real brother after we buy the snake, can I get the same toy motorcycle as Jane?" Harold gave her a calm, sidelong glance. "What do you think?" Her lips puckered in disappointment, but Bryan immediately threw an arm around her shoulders and declared cheerfully, "Mina, it's just a toy motorcycle! If Harold the cheapskate won’t buy it for you, I will buy for you.!" Mina spun around in excitement, hugging Bryan tight and planting a kiss on his cheek. Beaming from ear to ear, she announced, "I hereby declare that Harold is no longer my real brother, brother Bryan, are my dearest, darling brother!" Standing nearby, Harold nodded in wholehearted agreement and gratitude. "Brother Bryan, thank you for not rejecting this idiot Mina." —— The siblings bickered playfully all the way to the snake farm in the suburbs a place John had arranged for them in advance to ensure their safety. The moment Jane stepped out of the car, her smile faltered. Even before entering the farm, she could already smell the cold, musky scent of snakes lingering in the air. She wasn’t exactly afraid of snakes, but as a proper little princess with an idol’s image to uphold, she had no love for these unattractive, cold-blooded creatures. So when Mina, eagerly reached for her hand to drag her inside, Jane’s feet stayed firmly planted on the ground, as if rooted there. With a solemn expression, she looked up at Mina and said, "Sis, can brother Harold and brother Harold go in with you this time? I think I’ll stay out here… I feel a little carsick. I need to rest for a bit…" Mina patted her shoulder understandingly. "No problem, Jane. I get it. Wait for me out here I’ll go pick one myself." Jane watched as her sister marched confidently into the snake shed alongside the farm owner, then finally let out a relieved sigh. Harold and Bryan had gone in with Mina, leaving only Frederick with her. Without hesitation, Jane turned and stretched out her arms toward him. "Frederick, carry me!" Frederick crouched down and lifted her up, holding her securely with one arm while gently tapping the tip of her nose with his other hand. Casually, he asked, "Jane, Huan made Mina cry. Didn’t you think about punishing him?" Her big, sparkling eyes like chilled grapes blinked mischievously as she grinned. "Oh, I already did! Otherwise, brother Frederick, do you really think someone as clueless as brother Bryan could’ve stolen my itching powder so easily?" Frederick’s warm smile froze for a second. Just as he’d suspected. Jane had let Bryan take the itching powder on purpose. But then again, that was just like her she wasn’t the forgiving type. Anyone who hurt her or those she cared about would face consequences. In a way, that was good. At least he wouldn’t have to worry about her being bullied. As Frederick held her, the snake farm owner, clearly exasperated, set up a small table and a few wicker chairs in the open area. Noticing how young they both were, he even brought them a glass of milk and a cup of cola. Jane wriggled her short legs impatiently, and Frederick set her down. She toddled over to the chairs, clambering up onto one with all four limbs before settling in. Picking up the milk, she took a tiny sip, then beamed sweetly at the heavily tattooed farm owner. "Thank you!"
