Chapter 290
After school, Jane returned home and went straight to her room with Blackie in her arms.
"Little Black, do you have any findings from observing that glutton today?" asked Jane with eagerness.
Blackie gave her a haughty glance, acting regally, "Where's my dried fish and canned fish?? Your majesty isn't expecting to hunt ghosts and save your brother all day for just boiled fish, are you?"
"I got it, I got it! I'll fetch it right away!" said Jane as she rummaged through her things, and quickly ran downstairs.
Harold was huffing and puffing while carrying a big bag of cat food and snacks into the house.
Mina was also holding a big pot full of lush catnip.
"Thanks, Brother Harold ," said Jane, who took the plastic bag from Harold's hand and huffed and puffed her way to the upper floor.
After giving Blackie all kinds of cat snacks, she grinned like she's on cloud nine, and sweetly said to Blackie, "Besides these, I have also bought a super awesome thing for you."
As she said this, she carried the catnip into the room, huffing and panting.
Blackie, who was inspecting the food Jane bought for it, got excited as soon as it smelled the catnip.
"Meow -" it cried and leapt onto Jane's arm.
After Jane managed to set the catnip on the table, Blackie started frolicking and rolling about, losing all its day-to-day aloof demeanor.
Seizing the opportunity while it is happy, Jane hurriedly asked, "Little Black, when are we going to get rid of that glutton?"
Blackie waved its paw, "Rest assured, I have everything under control. When that glutton comes out to forage tonight, we will make our move."
"In one fell swoop, let's collect it into my spirit bracelet!"
Jane finally noticed that under the cover of Blackie's ebony fur and claws, a black jade bracelet was actually worn.
"Jane, what are you doing? So excited to bring up all the things from Little Black." Mina asked while entering through the door.
Facing her, Jane with his cherry blossom petal-like puffy pink cheeks revealed eight milky, glutinous baby teeth smiling, "It's just that Little Black said he was hungry, so Jane ran a little bit faster to bring up the food for him!"
Mina glanced at Blackie, her eye twitching, "I think he's not only hungry but also drunk!"
At that time, Blackie was swaying on the desk like a common drunkard, even occasionally standing up on his hind legs and lifting up his front paws to throw a couple of punches.
Jane looked dumbfounded, could the power of catnip be this strong?
Mina laughed and quickly took out her phone to take a short video of Blackie...
"Bang!"
Just as Mina was enthusiastically filming, Blackie suddenly dove headfirst onto the table.
Then he fell asleep where he fell.
Laying on the table, he soon started snoring.
"Oh hell!" Mina sighed regretfully, "There's nothing more to see."
She uploaded the small video clip she recorded to an app and was about to take Jane fishing.
With her short fingers white and tender, Jane asked, "Sister, can we first go see Brother Bryan before we go fishing? "
Mina was completely puzzled, "What's wrong with him? Jane, you went for a check-up with him today, what did Dylan say? Is he alright?"
"No problem at all, just that he needs to grow taller and stronger, and he's practicing boxing, so he ate a little more!" Jane said in his sweet and crisp voice.
"Hr used the checkup as an excuse to skip school today, right? But how come we haven't seen him even though we've been home from school for so long?"
"That's why I want to go check on him!"
"Let's go!" Mina pulled Jane's hand and headed towards Bryan's room.
But there was no response even after they knocked several times.
The two sisters exchanged a glance, Mina said to Jane very seriously, "Jane, you stay here while I go fetch the spare key from William."
Mina quickly ran downstairs. Jane watched her receding figure, but couldn't wait anymore, she directly ran back to her room and took an ear pick.
After fiddling for a short while, she managed to unlock Bryan's door.
Inside the room, various empty food wrappers littered the floor.
And there was Bryan, sitting in the mountain of snack wrappers, voraciously eating. His eyes were filled with fanatic light.
His stomach was already bloated, looking as if he was pregnant.
Even when Jane entered the room, he wasn't aware at all.
Seeing his swollen stomach, Jane almost burst into tears. If he continued eating like this, his stomach might burst!
"Brother, stop eating!" Jane rushed over, grabbed Bryan's shoulders, and started shaking him vigorously.
"Get lost!" Bryan shoved her away irritably.
"Bang!" Jane stumbled from the push and her head collided directly with Bryan's desk.
A sharp pain shot through her and a severe bump appeared on the back of her head.
"Ouch!" Jane couldn't help but yelp in pain, as tears clouded her eyes.
Upon hearing her pitiful yelp, Bryan's originally blank gaze came back to life.
Turning to look at Jane, "Jane, are you okay?" he asked.
He hurriedly tried to stand up to check on Jane’s condition.
However, as soon as he exerted a bit of strength, he had to sit back down.
Having eaten too much, not only was his stomach heavy, but moving resulted in an unbearable stomachache, as if his stomach was about to split open.
Unmindful of the large bump on the back of her head, Jane hurriedly ran over to Bryan, pressing him down, "Brother, don’t move. You’ve eaten too much, if you move now, you could injure your internal organs."
Bryan looked bewildered at the snack bags littered all over his room, "How did I eat so much?"
Jane was at a loss for a moment on how to explain to her brother.
Telling the truth certainly wasn't an option, given that her brother was the type to get scared to tears by a simple visit to a haunted house.
"Ah, Brother, you finally opened the door?" Fortunately, at that moment, Mina, bearing keys, returned home. "Why did it take you so long to open the door? You scared us to death!"
