Chapter 282

Jane, who had eaten so much that her belly was round, had not been home for long before Lucas arrived. As soon as he entered the door, he wanted to find Jane, but was called into the study by John. "Have you been busy with research lately?" John furrowed his brows, asking in a clear and cold voice. Lucas crossed his arms, leaning against the wall, "Not bad, is there something you want to talk to me about?" John frowned. Although their relationship as brothers had improved somewhat due to Jane, it was still far from being incredibly intimate and open. After a moment of silence, John said, "That crisis in your dream that you haven't experienced yet, be careful." "Alright!" Lucas's gaze was unclear under the shielding of his gold-rimmed glasses. After responding to him, he turned around and prepared to leave the study. From behind, John called out, "Try to keep communication as open as possible in the future. Don't lose contact...Jane is very worried about you!" Lucas lowered his head slightly, a hint of a smile pulling at his lips. Although this feeling of being cared for was quite strange, he had to admit that it actually felt quite good. Turning to look at John, he asked, "So, Big Brother, is only Jane worried about me? You all are not worried?" John had an icy expression, but his eyes were warm, "We are all adults now, we should be responsible for our own safety. What do you have that is worthy of concern?" Lucas just shrugged his shoulders slightly, "I originally thought that when I'm not busy with particular research, I would come home to stay. But since that's the case, I guess I'll just honestly stay at the research institute!" It was the first time that John had ever seen such a pitiful expression on Lucas's face from childhood till now. For the first time, he discovered that Lucas, who had always been as cold as a emotionless robot since childhood, could also have this side. He kept a straight face, "Oh, if you want to continue living at the institute, then I'll have William convert your room into a dressing room for Mina and Jane. The little girl is grown up now and needs to buy more clothes and jewelry to dress herself up." Lucas: "......" John is still tough! "I'm going to see my sister first, and later someone will help me move my stuff back!" After saying that, he left the study as if nothing had happened. Jane, hearing that Brother Lucas was back, ran out of her room barefooted. Seeing Lucas coming out of the study, she galloped over with her little feet, hugged his thigh, looked up at him with his chubby little face, and said with a milky voice, "Brother Lucas, you're back!" Lucas picked her up with a smile, kneading her little feet with one hand. "Why did you run out without wearing shoes?" Jane scratched the back of her head with her tender little claw, grinning sweetly and blankly, "I forgot!" After entering the room, Lucas had just put Jane on the bed. To boost her momentum, Jane stood on the bed with her arms folded, knitted her brows, and glared at Lucas, "Brother Lucas, why did you cut off contact with Black Butterfly? You said you would give Black Butterfly to me, so that whenever I miss you, I can find you with Black Butterfly. Why don't you keep your words, are you a liar?!" Knowing his adorable sister was genuinely angry this time, Lucas quickly apologized, "Jane, I'm sorry. It was me being silly. Can my generous sister forgive your brother, please?" "Humph!" Jane turned her head to the side haughtily. She had long decided to seriously teach Lucas a lesson this time. Otherwise, they all think they can handle everything on their own, ignoring the consequences. They never consider the despair it would bring to their loved ones if something happened to them. Looking at the round face that was as puffed as a pufferfish from anger, Lucas doted on his little sister but couldn't help feeling helpless. He asked, “Sis, you tell me, what can I do to earn your forgiveness? Whatever you say, I'll do." Jane sneakily glanced at Lucas and saw his sincere expression. She immediately turned her face away haughtily. In her little baby voice, she stretched out her words, “Really, will you do as I say?" "Of course, the spoken word can't be taken back," promised Lucas readily. As far as he was concerned, he would do anything to make his little sister happy. Jane climbed down, slipped off the bed using her hands and feet, put on her pink Peppa Pig slippers, and dragged Lucas out of the room! Only when Lucas stepped out did he notice that Mina was waiting outside. Jane seriously asked Mina, “Sis, have Brother Jordan and Brother Samuel come back?" “They are back!” Mina nodded heavily, casting a look of sympathy towards Lucas. “Alright, call the big brother, brother Bryan, and brother Harold to come downstairs!” said Jane authoritatively. Lucas:"..." He had a bad feeling! When Lucas was being dragged downstairs by Jane, Jordan and Samuel were already sitting on the sofa. In just a short while, Mina beckoned John, Bryan and Harold to come down. This was a rare occasion for the whole family to gather. They sat around the sofa, while the guilty Lucas stood in front of everyone, looking like he was on a trial stand. Jane, full of momentum, stood barefoot on the sofa with his hands on his hips, "Sister, bring on the durian!" Mina was about to fetch the durian. Seeing this, Bryan's eyes lit up. Jane was going to deal with Lucas, providing him a golden chance to take revenge for being looked down upon and despised by Lucas since childhood. Bryan immediately prevented Mina from leaving and made her sit down. "Fetching the durian is hard work. As your older brother, it's my job. I can't let my sister do it. Mina sit down!" With that, he cheerfully went to fetch the durian and placed it in front of Lucas. Lucas's eyes twitched upon seeing this. But looking at Jane's adorably fierce appearance, Lucas gritted his teeth and knelt down without hesitation.
