Chapter 278

The Wallace Family Villa. When Jordan brought Jane and Bryan home, John had already returned. Jordan followed John directly into his study. Bryan told Harold and Mina about Lucas. Harold immediately took out his computer and wanted to use the road monitoring system to find Lucas's whereabouts. Jane took advantage of her older siblings' inattention and quietly paced back to her room. She took out her brick-like phone, her little face showing an unprecedented seriousness. Before time-travel, she had dealt with a scientist who researched that kind of chip. The scientist wanted to use her time machine for his own benefit, and he also wanted to impose that chip on her. But she didn't let him succeed. Afterward, she even specifically investigated the scientist. His research direction was quite eerie, aside from the chip that controls people, his main research was focused on the field of metaphysical energy. If he really came back, would the fate of her brothers be related to him? The brick-like phone transformed into a delicate computer in Jane's hand, with her fair fingers swiftly dancing across the keyboard. Several red dots were blinking on the computer screen! She furrowed her small brows in seriousness, her cherry blossom petal-like pink lips pursed into a straight line. Right now, there's no other way, she could only go through them one by one! Half an hour later, there was only a single red dot left on the computer screen. Jane's eyes finally sparkled a bit, "Huff, Brother Lucas is here!" Then, she activated another program, and the red dot turned orange. Jane heaved a sigh of relief, this indicated that although Brother Lucas was currently in a dangerous environment, he was still temporarily safe. She restored the brick phone to its original state, put it into her small bag, and left the room. The door to Lucas's study was still closed. She knocked on the door. John opened the door and picked her up. Jane scratched her small head shyly, "Big Brother, Brother Jordan, um...you don't need to look for Brother Lucas anymore, he called me back." As she said this, she activated the speaker on her phone. Lucas's voice, cold and scornful, came through the speakers, "Jordan, are you an idiot? After Jane, a four-year-old, and Bryan experienced an explosion and couldn't contact me, you panicked. Are you becoming foolish, too? Are you so idle because your poor studio can't go on, and you're going to be kicked out of the entertainment circle?" Jordan: “…“ Damn, has he become a fool? I can't believe I actually worried about Lucas - that cold and heartless jerk! “Jane, tell that bastard Lucas that if I ever worry about him again, I will no longer be known as Jordan, but Haha!” After that, Jordan stormed off in a huff. With a slight furrow in his brow, John took the phone from the little ball., "Where are you right now?" “Sorting out some things outside.” “Why did you send away all the people the country assigned to protect you?” “They were inconvenient to have around!” “Regarding the chip removed from Alice’s brain, what’s going on? Is what you’re dealing with now related to the chip?” John continued to inquire, each question piercing and forceful. There was a fleeting moment of tension in Jane's eyes, despite her confidence in her own programming. However, facing such a sharp and keen John, she can't help but feel a little nervous. There was a silence on the other end of the phone before a emotionless voice droned, “John, although we now have a slight connection because of Jane, our relationships haven’t progressed to where we need to report to each other about our whereabouts, has it?” “What I'm doing is none of your concern and beyond your reach, you should know this very well!” Lucas's voice was icy cold, “I have business to attend to, bye.” With that, the other party immediately hung up the call. But John wasn't angry at Lucas's attitude, his emotions didn't fluctuate at all. A pair of profound eyes were staring straight into the intense gaze of Jane. "Jane, tell me the truth; why did you immediately determine that the chip was problematic when Jordan mentioned it, and felt that your Brother Lucas will be in danger?" Jane nibbled on her thumb, pondering on how to handle the matter this time. Jane’s eyes glistening while keeping her big eyes fluttering, although it’s a bit guilty to lie to John, but it was not the time to John the truth. "Big brother, I’m sorry for making things muddled, Jane had a nightmare while sleeping, and treated the matters in the dream like they were real. That's why I've been acting strangely and didn't join Uncle Tony's show, which made everyone worry about Brother Lucas..." The voice of Jane gradually dropped, the tone sounding remorseful in every syllable. She indeed felt regret. She should have clarified Brother Lucas’s situation first, then relayed the matter to Brother Jordan and big brother only when it deemed urgent. Not like how it went – making everyone worry in the end. John scooped her up and softly comforted, "It's fine; Jane was worried for her brother; that’s why she even cared about a dream." Despite his calming words, the deep-seated worry within the depths of his eyes didn’t lessen by a bit. Among the dreams that him and his brothers had, only Lucas's crisis had not arrived yet. However, Jane had dreamed of Lucas’s trouble on several occasions. Even though he never believed in such things before, they are hard to dismiss now given the reality that has unfolded imitating the dream. When Jane went downstairs, Bryan and Mina, along with Harold, were all still huddled around Harold, tracking the location of Lucas. "Little brother, sister, Brother Harold, Brother Lucas has already called. You guys don't need to worry now!" While speaking, she was tossing her little short legs to walk outside. "Jane, where are you going again?" Mina couldn't help but ask. "I'm off next door to play with Brother Frederick!" Jane spoke in her sweet, milk-like voice. "Her heart was totally stolen by that vixen next door. Freshly returning, she doesn't even concern herself with us lonely elders. Directly off to him!" Mina couldn't help but complain a bit. But, gazing at Jane's pitiful big eyes, she waved her off, "Go, go on then!" Jane originally didn't plan to find Frederick. She wanted to deal with her matters alone. However, just as she had stepped out of the Wallace Family mansion's front gate, she saw Frederick waiting for her at the entrance. Jane widened her eyes, "Brother Frederick, you..." "Didn't you tell your brothers and sisters that you were looking for me?" Frederick sprightly responded. Jane furrowed her brows. Her twinkling, cute and slightly fierce milk-like voice becoming more pronounced, "Brother Frederick, are you surveillance at our house? You're wrong for this..." Jane might have had a bunch of words in retaliation, but Frederick already muffled her soft face with laughter. "I wouldn't dare put surveillance in your home, would I? Don't you always use me as an excuse whenever you want to sneak out? Every time, all your brothers and sisters come knocking for you at my end!" Jane touched her delicate nose and looking up at Frederick, she revealed her eight cute, white and sticky front teeth in an embarrassed yet polite smile. "Alright, get in the car!" Frederick declared, opening the car door. Jane stood in place, her obsidian bright eyes widened, blinking, "To... where are we going?" From his lofty position, Frederick looked playfully at her, "You planned to use your short legs to walk to see Lucas?" Jane was angry, placing her hands on her hips, she growled at Frederick fiercely, "You're the one with short legs, your whole family has short legs!" Frederick's expression became even more cheerful, the corners of his eyes and brow brimming with amusement. He nodded repeatedly, "Yes, yes, yes, my whole family has short legs!" Jane angrily climbed into the car, her hands crossing her chest, and she huffed as she sat down properly. "Where to?" asked Frederick. Jane turned her little head, looking at him in surprise, "Don't you know?" Frederick arched an eyebrow, "How would I know?" Jane raised an eyebrow at him, and with a somewhat proud smile, she took out an old-fashioned mobile phone, "I know!"
