Marcus immediately moved to Carol's side, wrapping his arms around her waist so easily in a way that clearly showed that they'd done this before. "I've got Carol," he said simply.
Kyle looked at me with obvious distaste, his lip curling slightly as he sized me up. "I suppose I'm stuck with the Alpha," he muttered, clearly unhappy about having to carry a werewolf.
"Personal grievances aside," I said firmly, meeting his gaze directly, "this is about the mission. We can sort out our differences later."
Kyle nodded grudgingly. "Fine. But if you throw up on me, I'm dropping you."
