Chapter 189: Couple's Conflict

XENOIS The strange call from Sophia's phone kept replaying in my mind as I walked through my parents' penthouse in a daze as I tried to make sense of what had happened. This wasn't the same Bullet guy that my mum said had been calling the phone.   Someone else had dialed the number, let it ring several times, then hung up the moment they heard my voice. It felt deliberate, like whoever was calling knew they shouldn't be reaching me instead of Sophia.   "We should check on Marcus," my mother suggested, as she checked her appearance in the glass door as she glanced toward the guest wing where visitors were normally kept.   "Carol mentioned earlier he was finally conscious and coherent after taking Riley's antidote."   My father nodded in agreement with her, though I could see the  look in his eyes that meant he was thinking about how to use this to his advantage and see if there was something worth knowing from Marcus.   My father never did anything without considering all the angles fir
