Lawrence Arrived
Biddeford International Airport-
A private plane originating from Cavernia has successfully arrived.
A calm man with an air of natural detachment steps out from the VIP passage, a pure white Maine Coon cat tucked into his arms. The feline squints its glassy eyes, burying its fluffy head further into the man's embrace.
Sensing the cat's reactions to its unfamiliar surroundings, the man gently strokes its body, smoothing down its fur to soothe it.
Following behind the man is a procession of people.
At least a dozen cats and dogs each have at least one attendant caring for them, the cats cradled in arms and dogs being led by leashes.
Luggage carriers and about a dozen serious-looking men in black suits, clearly bodyguards, bring up the rear.
Walking in the lead is the man, his cloak draped over his shoulders, the hem fluttering with his unhurried stride. His pace is leisurely, giving off an air of nonchalant grace.
The party makes their grand exit towards the airport entrance.
Everyone in the airport terminal, whether waiting for their flights or passengers, can't help but look, wondering at the spectacle. With all the cats and dogs accompanying them, people speculate that they must have arrived in a private jet.
Many passengers comment it's their first time witnessing a scene akin to a medieval royalty traveling - the man leading the entourage could very well pass off as a regal noble from an ancient castle. Even the cat in his arms boasts an inexplicable elegance.
Outside the terminal, a fleet of cars stands ready and waiting.
An elegantly dressed butler in coattails and a blue bowtie steps forward, umbrella in hand, and respectfully says, "Your Grace, please."
The car door has already been opened.
All was arranged by the butler and his personnel, who came a week in advance to prepare.
Lawrence first glanced forward, then randomly looked to one side. It appeared as if he were admiring the view, but his gaze was too dispassionate as if it didn't focus on anything specific, giving the impression of indifference.
Passersby cast their eyes upon him but not a single one dared to approach. Some even chose to avoid him, watching from a distance.
A few girls whispered amongst themselves as they secretly took photos of Lawrence with their phones.
The snowfall wasn't too heavy, and Lawrence's expression wasn't cold, quite the contrary, it was mild. But it made people feel that he was colder than the snow.
Lawrence withdrew his gaze and remarked, "The scenery is decent but your bow tie color doesn't quite match with this snowy landscape."
Without waiting for a response, he picked up his cat and bent over to climb into his car.
The butler looked down at his tie, then promptly removed it and tucked it into his pocket.
When travelling, his attire was indeed a bit too conspicuous.
The motorcade slowly left the airport, heading toward its destination.
The villa's door was wide open, and Valwill excitingly ran back and forth at the entrance, occasionally peeking outside to see if Lawrence had arrived. Its footsteps were loud and clear. After a while, it would return to the couch, resting its head on Valentina's lap, behaving as affectionately as it could.
While acting affectionate, it was also watching the robot nearby.
The robot detected cunning and provocative expressions on the dog's face, which was quite absurd.
The sound of "no answer" came from the phone.
"The kid has become audacious," she thought, incredulous that he would not answer her call.
Valentina dialed again and merely tossed the phone aside, not caring whether the call would be answered. The screen displayed the note "Luke".
Luke shut down immediately.
Valentina wanted to run to Chadron and beat him up.
"Sweetheart, have some tea,"
A cup of water was handed over.
Valentina glanced at the sensible robot and took the water.
Before she had a chance to sip it, Valwill yelled toward the cup, then turned its head to yell at the robot, and subsequently received a slap from Valentina.
The slap left Valwill's head buzzing.
Valwill whimpered and immediately quieted down.
"This is just a robot, what are you arguing about?"
Valentina was speechless. A robot and a dog, two beings of completely different species that couldn't even communicate, were constantly squabbling for attention in the villa.
Valwill, who always bullied the weak and feared the strong, was just oblivious to the might of the robot, always trying to kick it behind Valentina's back.
The robot, whether for the safety of the house or just because of its large-heartedness and sensibility, never retaliated when bullied. Every time it was hit, it would only complain to Valentina and not fight back.
Valentina pointed at the robot's arm, "Look carefully, with this mechanical arm, it could easily crush your skull."
She tapped Valwill's doggy head.
Valwill showed no fear, "Woof!"
The sound of cars was heard, and gradually about a dozen luxury cars parked outside the gate.
Valentina looked out and said, "They're here. Go greet them."
She was asking Valwill to do so.
But the robot dutifully replied, "Yes, sweetheart," and gracefully slid towards the gate.
"Woof!"
Valwill barked once before dashing out, quickly overtaking the robot and heading outside of the villa.
Lawrence got out of the car carrying a cat.
Valwill stood at the gate, gazing unmovingly at Lawrence Lawrence called its name, "Luke."
"Woof!"
Valwill's eyes brightened, and it barked in reply like it could barely believe it. Then, it excitedly ran over, landing by Lawrence's side.
Its front legs climbed onto Lawrence's legs.
Lawrence slightly bent over to pat Valwill's head, then put down the cat from his arms for Valwill to see.
The cat seemed to recognize Valwill too, brushing its tail briefly over Valwill's head, "Meow."
Servants from the rear vehicles came out one after another, each bearing a cat or leading a dog.
Upon hearing the commotion, Valwill looked over and saw its siblings and parents all had arrived.
Dogs' barks sounded sporadically in a short while.
Hearing the calls, an ecstatic Valwill rushed towards its family.
Lawrence watched the mischievous Valwill and said, "He seems to be getting more and more reckless."
Back in the castle, Valwill was the smartest and most sensible of them all, taking the lead for the cats and dogs. But look at its demeanor now.
Valentina came out, saying, "Welcome."
Lawrence looked towards Valentina, a hint of warmth appearing in his indifferent eyes, which didn't make him seem any more approachable, but instead enhanced his aloof demeanor even more.
"Is your health getting better?" he asked as he advanced, holding the cat.
Ever since Valentina brought Valwill back to the country, her contact with Lawrence had increased, even though each time Valentina would just connect the video call and then hand it over to Valwill.
Valwill, a dog of noble origin, could not tolerate common market dog food, it would rather not eat even the greatest among those.
It only ate specially prepared food.
Its dog food was always delivered by those Lawrence dispatched. Occasionally, Lawrence would look for her because of Valwill.
After Valentina fell into a coma due to severe injuries, Lawrence, unable to reach her, contacted William instead.
Upon learning Valentina had fallen into a vegetative state, Lawrence visited Thawville with a doctor to see her. And now Valentina had awakened, he came to visit again.
They also brought forth Valwill's family members and allowed for a reunion.
Valentina said, "Yeah, come on in."
The robot followed with a greeting, "Please come in."
The voice of William attracted Lawrence's gaze towards the robot. He smiled slightly and asked, "Is this a gift from Mr. Felton?"
"Yeah."
"It's quite cute - I meant its appearance."
He did not comment on its voice.
Robot said, "Thank you, you are quite cute as well."
Lawrence chuckled softly, adding, "How lovely."
