True Despicable Man
Tim said, "Lucas used your beastly brother as bait to lure me here, planned to have me kill your beastly brother by using the lives of the family of three, then plotted to pit your father and me against each other. He waited for us to fight until both sides were wounded, ready to steal the fire amid chaos, and best of all, he hoped I would kill your father so that he could directly reap the benefits of our feud."
The girl in that family was murdered by people dispatched by Aldo.
But her parents were indeed killed by Lucas's men.
Lucas had long been coveting the position of the family head, which did not surprise Lydia too much.
She asked, "Did you know from the start that it was Lucas who was stirring up trouble behind the scenes? If so, why did you kill Aldo by falling into his trap?"
She recalled the content of the phone call Tim had just made and quickly figured it out, "You planned to pit Lucas and my father against each other?"
Tim replied, "What are you upset about? I am simply giving them a taste of their own medicine."
He sneered, "Moreover, I'm just going with the flow.
"Lucas covets the position of the family head, isn't it justified for me to help him seize some territories from your father?
"Your father has always known about Lucas's treacherous intentions, but he had not found a suitable opportunity to seize the power from Lucas's hands.
"Now, I have created this opportunity for your father. All that's missing between them is a spark to ignite their conflict - I'm merely helping to fan the flames."
He had a look of pure innocence on his face, as if he had done a good deed.
Tim said, "Just wait and see, they will soon start fighting amongst themselves. A major shuffle within your clan is imminent."
Lydia questioned, "You killed my brother right on our territory. Aren't you afraid that you won't make it out alive, or that my father might catch you and kill you? Wouldn't it be better to just incapacitate him, achieving the same effect while keeping yourself alive?"
"If I'm going to play, let's go big. Simply incapacitating him would not be enough. Besides, your beastly brother deserved to die."
"It's not up to you, a lawyer, to comment, with all your high principles and morals. I guess you won those previous cases of yours using similar tactics too, didn't you?”
Tim said, "Firstly, do not question my professional abilities. Let me ask you, if you encounter those vagabonds who bullied you again, what will you do?"
With a murderous look in her eyes, Lydia said, "I’ll naturally strip them alive with a whip!"
"So, they deserve to die for bullying you, but your brother doesn't deserve the same fate for harassing others? Does slaughtering beasts depend on one's profession?
"Anyone who sends a beast like your brother to meet God would greatly please God."
At those words, Lydia was left speechless.
"My father won't let you go."
Tim looked at her disdainfully, "Your father wouldn't dare to kill me."
Lydia retorted, "My family is on par with yours."
Tim replied, "Yes, but my father loves me very much.
"If I were to be killed by your clan, my father would spare no effort to exact revenge on your family. My father is not like yours, who has a multitude of women and children. Occasionally overwhelmed by paternal love, he might pick up this child to play with, or that child to amuse himself with, and if he takes a dislike to one, he could easily discard or kill them. "My father, on the other hand, only has me as his child, and my mother as his sole wife. In his entire life, he has only ever loved my mother."
Lydia still didn't believe him, "That can't be possible."
Tim said, "Only a monogamous marriage can be called human. Your father and those uncles and brothers with multiple wives are beasts. Only animals would mate indiscriminately, just like leopards and lions, whereas they are at best comparable to flies."
Lydia continued to stare at him.
Tim added, "Not only do I have a father who loves me, I also have friends who'd die for me. Poor Lydia."
After flaunting, Tim looked at her with faux sympathetic eyes as he teasingly shook his head, "Your views on love and marriage have been warped to an extent where you think polygamy and internal rivalry are normal.”
Lydia retorted, "I did not!"
Tim joked, "It seems that you’re still hoping for true love deep down."
Lydia raised her voice, "I did not!"
"Then what is it?"
Lydia gritted her teeth as if she wanted to tear Tim apart. "All men are good for nothing! They are disgusting creatures who only think with their lower halves!”
Tim looked annoyed. "If you keep cursing me like this, I might have to do something about it. I cannot put up with this slander for no reason."
Lydia's heart skipped a beat. She asked warily, "What are you going to do?"
Tim rose from his seat and started unbuttoning his coat in front of her.
Lydia exclaimed, “You dirty jerk, if you lay a finger on me, I swear I’ll kill you."
Tim took off his coat and tossed it on the sofa.
Lydia threatened him, “I will whip you to death, cut off your head, and chop off all your limbs."
Tim began unbuttoning his shirt.
In her panic and confusion, Lydia kept twisting her wrist, trying to break free from the whip. She ignored the wounds on her feet.
Her verbal threats were becoming increasingly more terrifying, “I will chop you into pieces and feed you to the dogs. Don't come near me, stay away from me, get away from me!”
Tim walked past her directly.
Lydia stopped in her tracks, her breaths short and hitched.
Tim went over to the water dispenser and returned with a cup of water. He leaned in towards Lydia with a playful smile. Whispering into her ear, he said, "What dirty thoughts do you have, huh? Your ears are so red, it seems you've been thinking a lot."
Lydia turned to look at him, visibly irritated.
The next second, she slammed her head into his. A loud "thud" was heard.
Tim clutched his painful forehead, the water from his cup spilled and splashed, real tears welling up from the sudden pain.
He had been headbutted twice by the same person.
Looking at Lydia who was glaring at him, Tim grumbled, "You little madcap, what is your head made of, iron?"
Tim tilted his head back and gulped down the remaining water in the cup.
After finishing, he glanced at Lydia and said, "I won't give you any." This water was initially meant for her.
Tim then returned to his couch.
Under Tim's maneuvers, a storm was brewing in the Callahan Clan. Lydia's father, the patriarch of the Callahan Clan, was now putting Lucas on trial.
Lucas, of course, would not admit to anything. He claimed that he had not instructed his subordinates to act, had not trespassed, and had not stolen from others.
How could he be so stupid to be an obvious thief? It was clear that he was being framed.
However, as Tim had said, Lydia's father was looking for an opportunity to take away the power in Lucas's hands. Whether it was true or a slander, he didn't care.
"Surely someone is taking this opportunity to create chaos. Enzo, Aldo's death is the most pressing issue at the moment." Lucas tried to get the plan back on track.
Tim stood by the window, gazing at the distant scenery. "Shall we make a bet? A bet on who will be the final winner, your father or uncle?"
Using someone’s father and uncle's lives as stakes, he was truly a villain.
Lydia looked at him.
He turned around, casually leaning against the window sill. The sun exposed half of his smiling face, while the other half was concealed in shadow
He wasn't wearing glasses.
It was the first time Lydia seriously regarded his face.
She didn't respond to his words, but inexplicably asked, "Is your mother very beautiful?"
