Chapter 30
Back home, Sophia went straight to the guest room to rest. Outside the gates of the villa, Lucas's car stayed parked for quite a while.
A little later, his assistant Sam drove the Lamborghini away, but Lucas stayed there alone, just waiting quietly.
He didn't believe Sophia had really stopped caring about him. And he couldn't accept the idea that she'd stay with James forever.
As long as she left this place—even just once—he might still have a shot.
But man… his injuries hurt like hell, and his heart? Even worse.
Three days later, the next autumn rain finally started to fall. Lucas sat slumped under a tree, letting a few drops slip through his fingers before the water tumbled to the ground.
He wondered, if he really died here… would Sophia hate him for it, or finally forgive him somehow?
He had waited outside for three full days and nights, but only James had been going in and out. Sophia hadn't stepped a foot beyond that front door. And at night, he'd sometimes catch a glimpse of her
