Chapter 787 She's Become A Self-Deprecating Monster 1
"Boyle Lawson, 25 years old, native to North City, Blood type A, Scorpio…"
Whitney was reading out a post with some hidden information dug up by some 'detectives' written on the school's forum.
"What the f*ck… Cherie, you actually like a Scorpio? Scorpios are the mortal enemies of every woman out there!"
Cherie never understood horoscopes. All she had heard was that Scorpios were very cold people and tended to be difficult to deal with.
Whitney explained, "Men who are Scorpios are known to be extremely cold. However, they have a knack for being very uniquely attractive. These men love to be in their own corners and are very good at reading your thoughts when they stare at you. They’re cold on the outside but actually quite warm in their hearts. Furthermore, they’re very lustful as well. They’re very difficult to deal with."
Cherie nearly spat out her soy milk as she said, "Whoa, that’s really accurate! You truly are a talented scam artist, Whitney!"
"Oh Cherie, don't hate me for being the bearer of bad news. Men like these have a stone heart. No matter how hard you try, there’s no guarantee you'd be able to melt the person's heart. Not to mention, Scorpios tend to hurt the other person in terms of relationships. Boyle’s not suitable for you. I think it'd be better if you date Tyler instead."
Cherie rolled her eyes at her and said, "How could you even bring Tyler into your analysis on Boyle? Look, Tyler and I are best friends that have known each other since young. Look, Tyler loves big-breasted, blonde women, okay. Women who are as sexy as Madonna are his type. A small fry like me would never catch his interest."
Whitney shook her head, completely disagreeing with her. She said with a sigh, "Men who'd still hangout with you as your best friend are extremely rare, Cherie. He's only doing that because he wants to take another look at you. Oh, our poor Tyler. He's already being abandoned by you before he even has the chance to do anything."
"Shut up."
Cherie snatched the information Whitney gathered away and started flipping through it. Although it had been gathered by questionable means, there was plenty of juicy stuff within.
"Not bad, Whitney. You even found out what Boyle likes. I'm pretty sure you've even dug out his entire ancestral lineage!"
Whitney rubbed her nose with her thumb and spoke in a smug manner, "Well, of course. It's me you're talking about. When I want to know something, nothing’s out of my reach."
"So, you’re at school not to study but to gossip instead?"
Whitney stuck out her tongue as she said, "Oh please, just look at yourself. You're completely obsessed with Boyle and have now completely neglected school too!"
Cherie waved the information around as she said, "Good work, sister. I'll be taking this. Thanks a lot. The next time we get milk tea, it’ll be on me. You can even choose to stuff half the cup full with toppings if you want to!"
Whitney reached out her hand as she said, "You think you'd be able to brush me off with just a single cup of milk tea? Five hundred bucks!"
Cherie playfully slapped her face and said, "In your dreams!"
"*sshole!"
…
Although Boyle was in his third year, he was not usually required to attend school since he would be invited to assist the other lecturers in teaching lessons.
Whitney was in an economics program and in the short span of two weeks, she already had disciples under her control. Therefore, all the information she gathered was considered gold.
Boyle happened to be teaching a lesson today and about half of the entire economics classroom had decided to attend his courses. Most of the participants were women.
The huge lecture hall was crowded with people.
Due to how crowded the lecture hall was, someone stepped on Cherie’s foot as soon as she entered the hall with Whitney, and she took a step back in response to the pain. However, she was caught by a huge hand as she stumbled.
"Be careful."
Cherie looked up in the direction of the familiar voice and immediately noticed Boyle's handsome face.
Whitney, who was holding onto Cherie's arm, winked at him as she spoke in a teasingly playful tone, "Oh Boyle, Cherie and I skipped our classes just to attend yours."
Cherie was stunned as she instinctively reached out to cover Whitney's mouth.
However, Boyle had already heard everything Whitney said earlier.
Boyle lowered his gaze to look at the woman in front of him and teased, "I didn't expect an English major to be interested in economics too."
Cough, cough.
Cherie replied, "I'm only here to accompany Whitney!"
However, her explanation had little to no effect in fixing the situation since it only made things worse for her.
It did not take long for them to be forced out by a group of people.
They had a very difficult time finding a seat but managed to do so at the end.
Whitney said mockingly, "Goddammit, why are there so many female students here? These female students aren’t even interested in their studies and yet, they’ll flock over when Boyle's the one teaching?"
Since they were unable to find any seats on the first row, they were forced to sit at the third row as the spacious lecture hall was completely filled. Some students were not even able to find any seats and were forced out of the hall by staff.
The open class soon began.
Cherie was completely lost the moment she heard all the economics jargon being directed at her.
The only stuff she could comprehend was the professionally-used terms being presented by Boyle who was in front. He talked about data analytics, some data models, global trade principles, currencies, and statistics.
Although Whitney majored in economics, she did not learn much since she had just started classes recently. As such, she felt sleepy the more she listened to him.
Scanning her eyes across the hall, most of the students were taking notes and paying close attention to the lecture. Only one-third of the students were recording Boyle’s lesson on their phones.
Cherie rested her chin on both palms as she stared at Boyle who was presenting his lecture seriously on the podium. Her heart throbbed.
It was only normal for men like Boyle who were disciplined, controlling, and serious to charm plenty of women.
Truly, serious men were the most attractive.
She stayed in her father's study when she was little back then. She would play Plants Vs Zombies in a corner while her father worked. She used to think back then that she wanted to find someone who looked as attractive and responsible as her father when she grew up.
After an hour and a half had passed, the open lecture was over.
Cherie and Whitney had thought about looking for Boyle after his lesson but since he was being swarmed by a group of female students asking him questions, they could not approach him.
After dawdling for a really long time, those people were eventually dispersed by staff.
When Boyle was about to leave the lecture hall and they were about to approach him, someone amongst the crowd went up to him first.
"Interesting lecture, Boyle."
Boyle looked up.
Cherie was standing at a distance and could not tell what they were talking about. All she could see was a tall woman intimately hugging Boyle's arm with a subtle smile on her face. They did not seem to be behaving too intimately, but she could tell that the woman was pretty close to him. They looked like two people who had known each other for a very long time.
"Who's that?"
Whitney said, "Oh, Cherie. It seems your biggest romantic rival has appeared."
Cherie frowned as she said, "Who on Earth is she? I thought Boyle never had a girlfriend?"
"Yeah, Boyle never had one. However, that woman is extremely close to Boyle. It seems their relationship officially blurs the lines between friendship and romance."
Whitney explained this to her while gesturing with her hands.
Cherie said, "Could you talk in plain English for once?"
"Ugh. It means their relationship is quite intimate but no one is bold enough to cross that line yet. Her name is Layla Collins. She's our chancellor’s daughter of our chancellor. If she dates Boyle, they would actually be a perfect couple," Whitney explained while rubbing her chin.
Cherie glared at her before scoffing as she said, "So judging from what you’ve said, they've known each other for quite some time now and actually never became a couple even after knowing each other for so long? I think nothing much is going to happen in the future then."
Whitney knew she was jealous, so she rested her arm on her shoulder before caressing her tender, white, and small face as she said, "Although Layla is quite attractive, she's incomparable to you, Cherie. I think she's nothing more than a nobody and will never have anything with Boyle."
However, she had only known Boyle for a few days. Although she liked Boyle, she was not as envious as Whitney thought she was.
However, she was unsure why it hurt when she noticed Layla putting her arm over Boyle's shoulder. Furthermore, Boyle did not even reject her advances.
