Chapter 779 Jelly Bean's Arc, The Girl Has Finally Grown Up
Time flew by in an instant and soon, ten years had gone by.
The Fudd family mansion, ten years later.
This happened to be the princess of the Fudd family's 18th birthday. The spacious courtyard of the Fudd family home was filled with beautiful decorations. Plenty of beautiful snacks and champagne were laid out on the spacious field.
The courtyard was as bright as day in the middle of night. It was also very lively.
Old Master Fudd was clutching onto his walking stick in the living room upstairs. He was in an incredibly delightful mood as he asked his daughter-in-law, Verian, "Where is Jelly Bean? Our guests are all here so why is our birthday girl not here yet?"
Verian took a glance upstairs and chuckled. She said, "I'm 80 percent sure she isn't done changing yet. Good lord, this child is spoiled rotten by both you and Heaton to the point that she's never punctual."
Old Master Fudd was displeased as he glared at Verian and said, "It's their honor for them to wait for my beloved granddaughter."
Verian smiled and did not argue with the old man since the old man was known to spoil his granddaughter unreasonably.
"I'll go upstairs to check on Jelly Bean, dad."
…
Verian went upstairs and knocked on the door. She said, "Are you done, Jelly Bean? All of the other guests are waiting for you outside. So, could you hurry up? It's not nice to keep them waiting for too long."
There were no replies from the other side of the door. Hence, Verian entered the room immediately. The instant the door opened, she noticed the windows were wide open and there was a rope dangling out of the window.
Verian panicked and immediately rushed over to the window to investigate. All she could see was Jelly Bean climbing down the rope.
"Cherie Fudd! What on Earth are you doing!"
A startling scream caused Cherie to tremble and let go of the rope. This caused her to fall from mid air!
"Ah!"
A loud shriek echoed from the backyard.
Fortunately the ground below was padded with grass so when Cherie fell from the window, it was not too serious. However, she sprained her ankle.
Just as Verian was frantically rushing down from upstairs and was about to rush to the backyard to make sure her daughter was not hurt, she ran into her husband, Heaton.
"How old are you exactly? How could you still not look where you're going?"
Heaton grabbed his wife's wrist while staring at her with a frown.
Verian was in an incredibly panicked state as she said, "No, Jelly Bean had just fallen from the second floor window!"
"What on Earth did that little brat do this time?"
"No idea! Let's hurry and check on her!"
Verian grabbed Heaton and rushed downstairs with him.
…
Cherie had sprained her ankle in the courtyard. It hurt so much that her face turned pale while she rubbed her ankle with her little hand. She was scanning the area with her dark beady eyes for anyone around to help her out.
While she was scanning the area, she noticed a handsome young man that was standing nearby.
"Hey, handsome! Handsome! Over here!"
Cherie cried out in pain when she noticed the man was ignoring her, "Help me! Hey! Help me dammit!"
The man finally had some sort of reaction when he noticed someone yelling for help as he turned around to look at the woman that was lying on the ground.
The young man was standing underneath the light decorations. When he turned to look at her, he seemed cold and arrogant. Arrogance was reeking all over his body even though he was only dressed in regular clothing.
The only thing that Cherie was thinking about the instant she laid her eyes on Boyle Lawson was… 'Wow, this man is handsome.'
Cherie withdrew her gaze when Boyle strode over to her. She pointed at her ankle and said, "I've sprained my ankle earlier and I can't get up now. Can you help me out?"
Boyle frowned hard while his gaze looked incredibly cold. However, he was still behaving like a gentleman as he reached out his hand to her.
Cherie reached out and grabbed onto the man's long slender arm. However, the instant Boyle helped her up, she lost her balance and immediately fell into his arms.
"I… I didn't mean to do that."
Both of them were extremely close to each other as the man's huge arm was tightly holding onto her soft hand and the other was supporting the back of her waist to stop her from stumbling again.
The man was incredibly tall. Even though she was wearing sneakers, her head only reached his neck. However, the instant she looked up, her soft lips seemed to have grazed the man's Adam's apple.
Boyle's face turned bitter and immediately released the woman from his arms as if he was holding onto a hot object.
"Please behave, miss."
Cherie was blushing heavily as she stumbled and leaned against the wall. She exclaimed, "You behave! All I did was look up so why must you lower your head! If you didn't, I would've never kissed you. Did you do that on purpose!"
Boyle was speechless.
Boyle maintained his cold expression and could not be bothered to argue with her. Hence, he turned around and left.
Cherie pointed at him while staring at his back, "Hey! Get back here! Are you a new servant our family hired?"
It was unsure if that statement sparked Boyle's rage since even though the man did not look back, he replied with a cold tone, "Yes, is there a problem?"
Cherie had no ill intentions toward him and only wanted him to come over and help her out. However, upon noticing how reluctant he seemed… the woman felt like toying with him as she grinned.
"You… Come over and carry me on your back."
The man scoffed when he heard her say something this absurd. Hence, he turned around and looked at her with an incredibly hostile glare. He said, "Miss Fudd, although I am only a temporary servant employed by your family, my job only requires me to serve meals to the guests during tonight's event and make sure the event goes by smoothly. You can always fork out more money to have someone else carry you on your back then!"
The Fudd family was incredibly rich anyway.
Boyle's statement was incredibly hurtful and offensive to her. No one had ever spoken to her like that since she basically grew up with a silver spoon in her mouth.
The woman clenched her little fists and furiously exclaimed, "How could you not act like a gentleman! I was only joking with you, okay!"
Boyle stared at her flustered little face with a sinister gaze as he spoke in a very hostile tone, "Then you should keep in mind from now on, Miss Fudd, that I don't like to be involved in anyone's jokes."
Boyle strode toward the event hall immediately after saying that, completely ignoring the woman behind.
'Hmph, the only good quality about him is his good looks. As for his temper though, it's even worse than my dad. Man, I didn't even say anything to him!'
Cherie pouted her lips as she gasped from how much her sprained ankle hurt her. However, just as she was about to leave, she noticed his name tag when she looked down.
Cherie bent over and picked up that little golden name tag. Two words were printed on it and they read, 'Boyle Lawson.'
'Hmm, his name is Boyle. What a weird name indeed. Well, he is attractive but he's just a little hot tempered.'
Both Verian and Heaton had already rushed to the backyard. They immediately noticed their daughter limping away.
Heaton frowned and said, "Cherie Fudd, do you have a death wish? Who allowed you to climb out from the second floor window?"
The instant Cherie noticed her strict father, she recoiled back and squirmed, "Dad…"
Heaton strode over, lowered his gaze to look at his daughter's ankle before shifting his gaze back up to the second floor window. He said, "Why isn't your leg broken?"
Cherie cowered into Verian's arms before staring at her father with a guilty look. She said while pouting her lips, "Dad… I won't ever do this again."
Verian said while holding onto her daughter, "Heaton, could you not lecture her now? How is your leg, Jelly Bean? Why do you even want to climb out at such a height? You've scared both your father and I, you know."
"My classmates told me that they wanted to celebrate my birthday with me. They've even booked a private room out there but after seeing just how grand you guys planned my birthday party, I know for a fact that you guys will never let me leave. However, I also didn't want to keep my classmates waiting, so I thought it would be best to sneak out of the second floor and out through the back door…"
Her voice grew increasingly softer as she spoke when she noticed how menacing Heaton looked.
"But you still can't jump out of the window. Did you know just how dangerous it was?" Verian raised her hand and squeezed her daughter's temples.
Cherie frantically nodded as she said, "I'm really sorry, Mom. I won't ever climb out the window ever again."
…
Both Wilson and Serene also came to Cherie's birthday party.
Therefore, after a simple adjustment by Wilson, Cherie's ankle was fixed. It did not take her long to start walking again.
Heaton stared at his daughter and gently raised his chin as he said, "Aren't you going to thank your Uncle Wilson?"
Cherie did a few hops and realized it did not hurt anymore, so she exclaimed while beaming, "Thank you, Uncle Wilson!"
"Don't worry about it. Happy birthday to our little birthday girl then."
Verian then told her daughter, "Go upstairs and get changed, Jelly Bean. Look at how filthy you are. Your birthday party will begin soon."
After Heaton watched the mother and daughter duo made their way upstairs, he went ahead to greet the other guests outside with Wilson and Serene.
"Your son isn't here today?"
Wilson replied, "Oh no, it's not possible for him to be absent. He's already here and he's playing with Henry right now. Oh, we won't be able to find them now, alright."
Serene spoke with a smile, "Oh, President Fudd, if it wasn't for our son being younger, you should really start thinking about marrying your daughter to our son now!"
Heaton cringed before changing the subject, "Our children are still very young and this isn't the right time for us to discuss marriage. Did you know that Jelly Bean even climbed out of a window today? Does that look like a woman who is ready to get married? We'll need to wait for at least ten more years before we get to discuss marriage."
Wilson rubbed his nose as he replied with a funny look, "Do you truly think that Jelly Bean isn't worthy of my son? Or do you think that there is no man in this world that is worthy of your Jelly Bean?"
Heaton raised his brows and jokingly said, "I have very strict and high standards toward my future son-in-law. Hence, in order to not fracture the good relationship between both our families, I think that it's best that we don't talk about marriage."
Suddenly a little boy's voice could be heard calling out from amongst the lively crowd, "Uncle Heaton!"
Wilson stared at the little smuggish boy that was breathing heavily as he ran out from the crowd. He then whispered into Heaton's ear in a playful tone, "The person that is going to eventually marry your Jelly Bean and become your future son-in-law is here."
Tyler fished out a thick red packet from his bag and said, "Uncle Heaton, this is a gift from my parents. It's for Jelly Bean. They're still really busy in the capital so they aren't able to make it here today. Therefore, I came over to greet both you and Aunty Verian for them instead."
Heaton accepted the red packet. He raised his brows slightly as he stared at the sweating Tyler before saying, "What's the hurry? Both your parents aren't free and yet you are? Are you not busy with school in the capital?"
Tyler scratched his head and shamelessly said, "Oh, Uncle Heaton, isn't today Jelly Bean's birthday? I skipped my classes to come over. Where's Jelly Bean, Uncle Heaton? I'm in a hurry to meet her."
Heaton reached out to pat the boy's head and said, "You little brat. Are you trying to kidnap my daughter away the instant you are of age?"
"No way! I just so happened to have bought Jelly Bean a birthday gift. Hurry up and tell me where she is, Uncle Heaton. The custom made electronic piano is extremely heavy. I'm exhausted from carrying it around with me the entire journey here!"
Heaton chuckled and said, "Alright fine, I'll stop teasing you now. She's upstairs."
The instant he said that, Tyler immediately bolted away while carrying her birthday gift.
Wilson rubbed his chin while observing from the side. He said with a teasing smile, "This brat sure is something alright. His family is actually worthy of Jelly Bean. However, the more important thing is, Tyler technically grew up with Jelly Bean and is her childhood friend."
Heaton rolled his eyes at his best friend as he replied with an arrogant tone, "It's still up to me to decide whether or not he passes. It's also up to me to decide if I'm willing to allow Carter to be part of my family, you know."
