Chapter 776 Finding The Murderer Behind Everything

Feelings of rage and confusion were mixed together. Yaakov could not be bothered by Ruby's resistance since her resistance only aroused him even more. Although the man was still in a drunken daze, he was still more skilled than Ruby. It did not take long for him to subdue Ruby once again. Just as the man was about to approach her, Ruby grabbed a green ceramic vase next to her and immediately smashed it on Yaakov's head. 'Smash!' The ceramic vase was immediately shattered into pieces as soon as it made contact with Yaakov's head. Yaakov was a little dazed as he stood there while fresh blood trickled down slowly from his head onto his forehead then onto his eyelids. Yaakov chuckled mockingly as he dared not even lift a finger at the woman because she happened to be extremely important to a certain person. So much so that the person would risk his own life for hers. Ruby was not afraid nor was there any signs of hesitation from her as she picked up a knife beside her and immediately held it against the man's neck. "Get me out of here, right now!" "What if I refuse?" The sharp edge of the knife inched closer to Yaakov's neck and sliced into the man's flesh. Ruby's voice sounded cold and ruthless as she warned him while glaring at him, "You can always try." "You love Blaine this much?" "My love for Blaine is one thing but the thing that bothers me the most is I absolutely hate being held against my will in a cage!" Yaakov took a deep breath while his gaze dimmed as he said, "Have you really not thought about me even once in all these years, Rubes?" The way Yaakov looked at Ruby felt sincerely charming. Ruby did not intend to give any hope to the man since she knew that the both of them would never have a future together. Even if she had once thought about him, she had no reason to let him know about it. She muttered a single word with a brutally cold tone, "No." Yaakov closed his eyes and seemed to have given up on her as he said, "Fine, I'll let you go." … Ruby held Yaakov hostage while she immediately made her way out of the Drake family mansion. It was still drizzling in the middle of the night. However, Ruby never once dropped her guard even the slightest. Ruby realized how cunning and deep his thoughts were after only spending a few days with this man. She decided that she had to absolutely keep her guard up with him. While holding a knife to his neck. Ruby kept looking over her shoulder and only walked away after making sure that they were not being followed. "Give me a car, Yaakov. Also, drive me to the airport!" Ruby immediately shoved Yaakov into the car. However, that sharp knife had never once left his neck. Yaakov pointed at his bleeding head and neck before mockingly saying, "Look at how much of a mess you've made me. Do you still have to hold a knife to my neck?" "I'll stop if you aren't so cunning. However, asking you to stop being so cunning is basically harder than reaching the sky." Yaakov replied, "You truly don't even have a fraction of feelings toward me, Rubes." Ruby furiously exclaimed, "You're wrong. It's much lesser than a fraction of feelings I have for you. Now, stop talking and drive!" Yaakov held back his anger and started the car. Due to the injury Yaakov sustained on his head and how hard Ruby was when she held the knife up against his neck, he was starting to hallucinate and lose his vision. "Are you sure that you want me to drive like this? My head is currently injured and I haven't stopped bleeding yet so even if you don't care about my injuries, you should really care about your life! Who's to blame if an accident happens?" Ruby rolled her eyes at him before exclaiming, "How could a big strong man like you talk this much nonsense? I am not afraid of dying by being in the same car as you while you drive in such unsafe conditions so what are you even complaining about?" Yaakov gritted his teeth as he thought to himself, 'Well played! Truly a ruthless woman indeed!' "Are you truly willing to do anything for Blaine?" It did not take long for them to arrive at Fame City airport. Ruby took a glance at the airport through the window and said, "If you dare ambush me at the airport, you will die a painful and gruesome death!" "What else can I still do to you with the current state I'm in?" "Best you keep your word!" … Glacier City at this moment. The housekeeper reported from downstairs, "Master Blaine, Miss Nelson is here." CIndy was already on her way upstairs as she said, "Oh, Master Blaine, you're really back!" Blaine frowned slightly as he said, "How did you know that I've already returned from the borders?" "I… I just so happened to hear it from somewhere. The thing is, I missed you dearly, Master Blaine so I just thought I'd stop by to see you. It'll still be worth it even if you weren't home." Blaine scoffed as he said, "Quite the news you've gotten." It was difficult to tell just what kind of emotions he was feeling judging from the tone of his voice. "Can we share dinner together tonight, Master Blaine?" Blaine's eyelids twitched slightly as he coldly exclaimed, "I'm not in the mood for that." Cindy intentionally probed, "What's wrong, Master Blaine? Are you in a bad mood?" Blaine did not hold anything back as he looked into her eyes and said, "Something happened to Softie and I can't find her. Do you know where she is?" Cindy was stunned as she spoke with a nervous laugh, "It's not like you don't know how my relationship is with Miss Luna right, Master Blaine? Why would she even tell me where she'd go anyway? Didn't Miss Luna return to her own home back then?" "Really now? I thought your informant would be all knowing since you knew that I've already returned home in just a few days. Wouldn't you also know that Softie had arrived at Glacier City a few days ago?" "I… I truly have no idea about this. All I know is that you've returned, Master Blaine and that was because I've always kept a close eye on you. I'm not even that close with Miss Luna so I didn't pay too much attention to her. I obviously won't know anything about her, right?" 'Hmph, that woman's corpse should be under the sea now. She won't ever get to see Master Blaine again.' Perhaps Master Blaine might still be thinking about the woman but with the passage of time, he would have slowly forgotten about her since time was the best tool in making anyone forget about things. Nothing could be better than time. 'Thud, thud, thud.' Someone was knocking on the door to the study again. Old K brought in a middle-aged man in his forties into the study. His hands were bound as Old K made him kneel in front of Blaine. "Master Blaine, we've found the assassin sent to assassinate Miss Softie but we were too late, so we brought him back here to meet you, Master Blaine." While the man knelt on the ground, he pleaded with his life, "Please let me go, Master Blaine! I truly have no intention in killing that woman! That woman is still alive, she's truly still alive!" Cindy's gaze turned pale as she was shocked to learn that Ruby was still alive. The instant the man glanced over, he noticed Cindy so he immediately pointed at her before yelling out, "Master Blaine, it was her, it's that woman! She bribed me to murder the woman you love, Master Blaine! I've even heard her say that as long as the woman's dead, she'll be able to marry you, Master Blaine!" Cindy was startled as her heart trembled before coldly glaring at the man as she said, "What nonsense are you talking about!!" Cindy reached out to grab Blaine's sleeve while pleading in a sad voice, "This man is framing me, Master Blaine! I've never seen Miss Luna ever since Miss Luna had gone home and besides, Miss Luna is so important to you, Master Blaine, I wouldn't dare lay a finger on her! You have to believe me, Master Blaine!" Blaine grinned without saying a word. Cindy then shifted her attention over at the kneeling man again as she said, "I think you just wanted Master Blaine to let you live to have intentionally framed me like this! I've never even seen you before! How could I possibly make you kill anyone!" The man crawled over to Blaine while kneeling as he pleaded sincerely, "You need to believe me, Master Blaine! It was this woman, it was her who drugged the woman first before abducting her while she was on her way to the airport. We then brought her to Well's Cliff. However, just as we were about to make our move on her, a man appeared out of nowhere and killed all my comrades. He let me live and had me return to report on my mission by telling Miss Nelson that the woman is already dead."
