Chapter 513 Prepare For The Wedding!

"What did you say?" Heaton was momentarily startled. He lowered his head and tried to look at the woman in his embrace. Verian said, "I did not come to London for my studies. I'm just here to visit the Royal Academy of Arts, and while I'm here, I wanted to attend a few fashion shows. After that, I will go back to North City, open my own work studio while taking care of the kids. You won't be going back on your words, right? You promised me that you'd open a studio for me…" She had yet to finish her words when Heaton pressed his lips on hers. The kiss was out of the blue, but it was within her expectation. Verian was slightly out of breath due to their passionate kiss. Even though their lips were apart, their foreheads were still against each other. Heaton looked at her in a gentle gaze. "Did you just make this decision, or have you decided way before you came to England?" "I've made my decision before I came here. Even though this is a rare and tempting opportunity, you and our kids are way more important than this. Heaton, you supported my dreams and are even willing to wait at least a year and a half while I'm here. I can make sacrifices for our family too. I hope that we're both equal in our relationship and not just you giving unconditionally to me. My heart will break if you keep doing that." Heaton took a deep breath. There was a glint of pride in his eyes; he did not expect Verian to have grown so fast to become a mature woman in their marriage and relationship. She had learned to be considerate and tolerant toward him; she even put herself in his shoes. He was grateful for that. Heaton was a mature man in his 30s, and he had suffered a great deal in life. In his eyes, Verian was not much different than other fresh graduates. The only thing that differentiated her from them was that she had married him at an early age and had given birth to two kids for him. His wife was young, and as her husband, he had to experience every adversity before her. Verian was fortunate to be together with a mature, self-possessed man like Heaton. She did not need to think too much and did not have to stumble too many times in life. What she had to do was to walk through life at ease, and he would protect her during times of hardship. Hence, she was willing to accommodate him and give up the opportunity that knocked on her door. Heaton lowered his head and gently kissed on her nose and lips. He looked at her affectionately. "It's easy to open a working studio. You can open as many studios as you wish. However, before that, we should carry out our wedding first. Old Master looked upset these days." The moment she heard him say that the old master was upset, she hastily asked, "Then I shall not attend the upcoming fashion shows. Let's go home tomorrow and apologize to dad?" "He is already angry anyway. We might as well let him be angry for a few more days and then go back home to tell him this good news. He will be more grateful for you." Verian was at a loss for words. 'Is it appropriate to keep dad in the dark?' Verian wondered. "Can you clear your work schedule these days and accompany me to watch fashion shows then?" "Mrs. Fudd, I'm already in London. What do you think? Of course, I'll be at your mercy." Verian wrapped her arms around his neck; she was happy to have him by her side. ... In the next few days, Heaton accompanied Verian to fashion shows and local museums such as art museums. The two walked around the streets in London leisurely and visited some local diners and restaurants to taste their local delicacies. It was like an advanced honeymoon. The night before they went back to North City, Little Jelly Bean made a video call to Verian. The moment the call was connected, Little Jelly Bean bawled as she repeatedly rubbed her eyes in front of the camera. Verian's heart skipped a beat. She worriedly asked, "Jelly Bean, what's wrong? Did something happen? Why did you cry?" "Monty, do you and Daddy not want Little Brother and me anymore? When are you coming home?" Verian promptly explained, "No, how could we possibly leave you two? We're coming home tomorrow, so don't cry, okay?" The next second, Little Jelly Bean smiled happily at the camera. She sounded excited when she asked, "Monty, are you and Daddy really coming home tomorrow?" "Yes, you can ask Daddy later if you don't trust me." "Where's Daddy?" "He's taking a shower now. It'll take a while. Has my Little Jelly Bean been obedient these few days? Did you eat your meals on time?" "Yes! I ate my meals obediently every day, and I've grown taller! Monty, let me show you Little Brother!" "Okay, how's Little Brother doing?" The little girl grabbed the tablet with both her hands and ran to the nursery room. Little Jelly Bean went into the nursery and held the tablet in a position where Little Pickle, who was lying in the cradle, could be seen on the display screen. He had just had milk and was sound asleep in the cradle. He had a serious face as he slept, and he looked so much like Heaton. It would be better if he were like Heaton. Girls would take a liking of him if he were a little self-possessed and decisive in dealing with matters. After a while, Heaton came out of the bathroom and sat beside her. The three of them had chatted for more than half an hour. Little Jelly Bean and Verian talked most of the time while Heaton kept silent and listened to their conversation. Before they turned off the video call, Little Jelly Bean held the tablet closer to her face and planted a kiss on the camera. "Daddy, Monty, kiss kiss. Good night!" Verian threw a flying kiss at Little Jelly Bean. "Be a good girl, Jelly Bean. We will be home tomorrow. Please tell your grandfather about this." Little Jelly Bean nodded adorably. "Okay!" … A few days after they returned to North City, Heaton spared some time from his work to accompany Verian in preparing for their wedding. However, there were too many things to arrange. Heaton could not always leave his work aside to help with the wedding preparation. Old Master had mentioned hiring an event planning company to help with the preparation. However, they would only take care of major concerns. Heaton and Verian still needed to decide on the general orientation of the wedding. Furthermore, there were a few minor details that they needed to take care of too. After a few days, Verian was exhausted. After her shower, she immediately sprawled on the bed. As she stared at the chandelier on the ceiling above her, she muttered, "When I attended wedding ceremonies, the couples always looked content and in high spirits. However, why do I feel so dog-tired when it's my turn? And it's not even over yet…" They need to confirm the venue for the wedding ceremony, banquet halls… Everything was in a pile of mess, and Verian felt like her head would explode due to the overwhelming things she had to do. Heaton closed the document file from his work and put it aside. He went to bed, laid beside Verian, and looked at her. "What do you still need to do?" Verian counted the items with her fingers. "We've chosen the venue for the wedding banquet, which will be at the Banyan Tree Hotel. As for the wedding ceremony, let's do it in a church. The date has yet to be confirmed as Dad and Mom are still discussing it. Mom wanted to ask a fortune-teller to get an auspicious day that is suitable for weddings." Heaton rubbed his nose in doubt. It was his first marriage, so he did not have any experience with it. That was the reason he did not offer his opinion in front of their elders. He allowed them to do as they wished. "Also, I have yet to decide on my wedding dress. Since it's Saturday tomorrow, let's go and try on wedding dresses. I've invited Serene to come along." Heaton raised his brows. "Serene has never been married, and she can give us advice?" "Well, Helen is in the capital now, and it's too far from North City. Besides, she's just here to take a look at our wedding dress and suit. It doesn't really require one to have marriage experiences, right? By the way, Mr. Fudd, why do you look down on people who aren't married?" Heaton pulled the blanket to cover themselves. Then he inched closer to her and hugged her. "That's because I'm married, and so, I look at those who are single in disdain." "Serene is not single; she has Dr. Jarret." "They're not married, and hence she's the same to me." Verian thought it was hilarious and asked, "What if you're single?" "I'll look down on those lovey-dovey couples." Verian was at a loss for words.
