Chapter 492 Helping Madam Fudd Achieve Her Dream

After Verian had undergone a series of tests in the hospital, she turned out fine. Heaton was still worried. He frowned and asked in a concerned tone, “Why does she still have such a sharp pain in her stomach this morning then?” The doctor explained, “Sudden false contracting pains will occur to most women who are closing in on their apparent delivery date. It’s usually caused when the pregnant woman experiences unstable mood swings or if they are too nervous. She will be fine if she follows a normal sleep schedule.” Heaton nodded. After the doctor left, Little Jelly Bean approached Verian while carrying her little school bag. She was blinking her huge eyes while pouting her lips as she said, “Monty, don’t be nervous, daddy’s here.” The moment Verian looked up, she was met by Heaton’s deep gaze. She blushed while saying, “Well… since I’m fine then can we leave the hospital?” Verian felt impatient as she stayed in bed so she pulled her covers aside and was about to get out of bed. However, Heaton grabbed her wrist and told her, “Stay in the hospital for a few days, alright? What if you feel that sharp pain again when you get back home?” “Then… you’ll have to send Little Jelly Bean to her kindergarten. It seems like she’ll be late for school because of me.” The little rascal took a look at her little watch and said, “Monty, we won’t make it in time already! Hence, I won’t go to school today then! I’ll stay here to keep you company, Monty!” The little rascal immediately tossed her bag aside while Heaton scoffed. He could clearly see through what that little rascal’s naive intentions were. “I think you just don’t want to go to school.” Little Jelly Bean pouted her lips and said, “No way! I’m just worried about Monty so I won’t go to school!” Verian laughed as she took the little rascal’s side while saying, “Alright, alright. You can be absent today because you’re worried about me.” Heaton was not as strict as he usually was so he called her teacher to inform the school about Little Jelly Bean’s absence. He thought about keeping Little Jelly Bean by Verian’s side so she would be in a better mood since the doctor said a pregnant woman’s emotions were quite important. Verian then looked at Heaton and realized that he did not seem to be leaving. However, Heaton’s phone was constantly ringing during the hour he spent keeping her company. Since Verian felt fine, she told Heaton, “Heaton, why don’t you return to the office. I’ll be fine with Little Jelly Bean and Madam Leah by my side.” Heaton did not leave as he sat beside Verian. He picked up an apple and a knife from the fruit basket before patiently slicing up some apples while saying, “Even if I leave, I’ll still be worried. I’ll have Kush bring over my laptop later. I’ll keep you company for a few days in the hospital.” Verian could not help herself from laughing as she sat up on her bed. She said, “Come on now, other people will make fun of me for having my entire family keep me company when I’m not feeling well.” Heaton raised his brows slightly and said, “What’s so funny about that? Besides, you’re a pregnant woman.” Verian’s heart felt sweet when she noticed how serious Heaton looked so she said, “But I’m really completely fine. Don’t keep me company here when you’re so busy with work. It’ll be alright with Madam Leah here taking care of me and Little Jelly Bean to make sure I’m not bored.” Heaton immediately took a glance at her and said, “If you’re really fine, I’ll have Kush send over your art block and drawing supplies just to keep you from overthinking.” Verian was speechless. When Kush delivered some documents and the laptop over, he actually brought along her art supplies and her drawing block. Heaton propped up the little table beside her bed, placed the art block on it before helping her open up her supplies and handing a paintbrush to her. The man winked at her and said, “The only reason why you’re having pseudo contractions is because of how unstable your mood is. If you can do whatever you enjoy, I believe your mood will improve significantly and you wouldn’t be constantly worried about the baby.” Verian was beaming from her eyes when she accepted the paint brush. It seemed like Heaton really knew how to take care of people. In all honesty, this man was not attentive nor was he gentle. However, he had his own personal way of understanding and caring for her. Before, she was actually slightly depressed. However, she did not tell Heaton about her depression because she was pregnant with their second child at that moment. This was in addition to him having a family and neglecting work for a while now. She was troubled because most of her classmates who used to study in Paris with her already had their own designer brands or found a great instructor to learn from. They were all doing quite well in the design industry. Since Verian was just a normal person, she too would feel envious of them. Whenever a person was stable with their lives, they would be more prone to overthinking. As an example, other people would be envious of Verian for having a wealthy and handsome husband. However, she would be envious of the design other people had come up with. Verian loved art and she spent a really long time learning it since Grayson used to enroll her into art classes since she was a child. That single hobby remained even after more than ten years later. She had always relied on drawing to calm herself down during the most difficult three years she had gone through. However, she actually spent less time drawing after marrying Heaton. She never got the chance to draw after she got pregnant as well. She could not spontaneously come up with an idea to draw when she was holding onto her paintbrush at that moment. However, when she looked up, she noticed Heaton who was sitting on the side while Little Jelly Bean was lying next to her clutching onto a cellphone, playing a video game. She would occasionally scratch her ears. This scene looked very interesting to her. Therefore, Verian started secretly drawing this exact scene. More than half an hour had gone by unknowingly as the paintbrush in her hand was snatched away by a huge hand. Verian was completely lost in her drawing so she seemed confused when she looked up at the man. Heaton then reminded her, “Take a short break to stretch your neck.” “I’m not tired.” However, the man started to squeeze her neck before pushing her back onto the pillow as he said, “Be a good girl now.” Verian was speechless. Verian felt as if she was currently being protected like an endangered species. Both Madam Leah and Little Jelly Bean had returned home at night so Verian grabbed her paintbrush and started drawing again while Heaton was working silently alone in a corner. After two hours, Heaton took a glance at his watch before saying, “It’s 10 p.m. now. It’s getting late.” “Heaton, come over and tell me what you think of my painting?” Verian raised the art block and brought it to him. A funny look could be seen in Heaton’s eyes as he looked at the cartoonish painting before pointing at the characters she painted as he said, “I can tell this is Little Jelly Bean but who’s this?” Heaton was pointing at ‘him’ as he teased, “Is that me?” Verian smiled and replied seriously, “Yeah.” Verian continued, “Doesn’t that resemble you?” The man asked in a serious tone, “Do I look that immature?” “I’m drawing cartoons! Besides, I drew an extremely young you in that picture! Aren’t you satisfied?” The man stared at her and casually replied, “A man that immature isn’t reliable at all.” Verian reached out to hug him before coquettishly saying, “You are the most reliable man ever. Now, my dearest Mr. Fudd, can I be discharged from the hospital tomorrow? It’s really boring in the hospital.” “You’re bored even though I’m keeping you company?” “You keeping me company will result in you sacrificing so much of your precious work time. Heaton, I have reflected thoroughly on everything you said to me today. After our child is born, will you still support everything I enjoy doing?” “I’ll obviously support you if you’re happy. However, you can’t be too exhausted at work because it is a man’s job to make money and support the family.” Verian curled up in his arms like a little cat while mumbling, “If only my work can earn me a spot in an international design competition. Man how awesome will that be. Plenty of my classmates have already started their own designer brands. I’m so envious of them.” Heaton patted her little head before secretly remembering Madam Fudd’s wishes. Some day, he would fulfil her dreams for her.
