Chapter 523 Newly-wed 2
Upon arriving at the resting room, Heaton gently placed Verian in an upright position at the bedside. He then knelt on one knee and lifted her leg, putting it on his lap before taking off her high heels.
As he was taking off her heels, the leather heels rubbed against her skin and she groaned in pain.
Heaton frowned slightly and said, “If I knew you would get hurt from the high heels, I would’ve asked you to wear flats instead. After all, no one can see your shoes when you put on your floor-length wedding gown.”
Verian sulked and muttered, “How can I do that? I’ll look short beside you if I don’t wear high heels. Besides, other people would then think we’re unsuitable for each other.”
Heaton stood up to take the first-aid kit. “As long as I feel that we’re a perfect match, I don’t care what others think.”
Verian stretched her arms, pressing them against the bed while looking at him. She then asked, “Oh, by the way, are we going back home or gonna be staying at the hotel after the wedding banquet?”
“The guests and us will be staying at the hotel. Xylean and Serene will accompany you to the presidential suite later in the afternoon as there will be guests visiting you, asking you for wedding candies. However, you don’t have to worry about this as Xylean, Serene, and Helen will be there handling this for you.”
“How about you?”
Heaton held her fair-skinned foot in his hand while dressing her wound. “I’ll entertain the guests. If there’s free time in the afternoon, I’ll go up and find you.”
“There’re so many guests I don’t know. I don’t even know how to address some of them. Will everything be fine?”
“It’s alright. You can just smile and nod at them. The bride has the right to not say a word to the guests, after all.”
Heaton lifted his gaze and beamed a sly smile at her.
Verian chuckled. “If the guests were to ask me something, do I have to pretend to be mute then?”
At this moment, Verian’s stomach growled and she quickly hugged her stomach in embarrassment.
Heaton creased his brows in worry. “Why didn’t you eat anything?”
“How can I eat? Not only am I hungry, but also I’m thirsty. Even so, I dare not eat nor drink water. I can’t go to the washroom with this wedding gown.”
“You haven't eaten or drunk anything since morning?”
“I had half a sandwich this morning and haven’t had anything since.”
Upon hearing what Verian said, Heaton took out his phone and called Kush right away. “Get a portion of food and tea to be served to the resting room on the first floor.”
Verian loved eating pastries and desserts so Heaton emphasized, “Get some pastries over here too.”
After hanging up, Heaton looked at her wound which was still oozing out blood and felt a little distressed. “After the wedding luncheon ends, you should change your shoes when you return to your room. When the guests ask you for wedding candies, you’ll be sitting on the bed with both legs fully covered by your wedding gown. No one will see your slippers underneath your gown.”
Verian found it funny as she tried to imagine the scenario. ‘A wedding gown worn with a pair of single-use slippers. What a peculiar style,’ Verian thought to herself.
When Kush sent the food over, Heaton had finished dressing Verian’s wound.
“Boss, madam, don’t hesitate to call me if you two need anything else.”
Heaton nodded. “You can leave now.”
“Okay.”
After Kush left the resting room, Verian lifted her legs up on the bed and crossed them, barefooted. Staring at the appetizing food in front of her, she started to salivate.
She was extremely hungry.
Verina ate a few pastries and felt content. She stopped eating when she did not feel as hungry anymore.
Heaton looked at her desperate gaze and passed the food to her again. “You can eat more if you want. Just take off your wedding gown if you want to go to the washroom. After all, you need to change into an evening dress tonight to give a toast to everyone.”
“I’ll eat a little more then. Just a little more.”
Verian stretched her hands out and grabbed the knife and fork. After filling her empty stomach with pasta and fruits, the two of them then left the resting room and returned to the banquet hall once again.
The wedding luncheon lasted until almost half-past two in the afternoon. It was afterward that Verian was able to excuse herself to leave the banquet hall. After Heaton passed the hotel key card to her, she went upstairs together with the bridesmaids and the flower boy and girl.
When they arrived at the presidential suite, Verian went toward the bed and sat on it.
As Helen noticed her stiffened back and the exhausted look donned on her face, she asked in worry, “Verian, do you want to take off your wedding gown now? You might feel better in an evening dress.”
Little Jelly Bean pouted her lips and was concerned for Verian as well. “Monty, are you tired? Let me massage your back by pounding on it. I’ve always pounded grandfather’s back whenever he’s tired.”
The little girl crawled up onto the bed and knelt behind Verian’s back. She then clenched her first lightly and pounded on her shoulders and back.
She was soft-hearted upon seeing Little Jelly Bean worry for her. She turned toward Little Jelly Bean and carried her onto her lap. “I’m not tired. Jelly Bean is tired too, right? You woke up early and have been running around since this morning. Helen, get some wedding candies for the kids to eat. They must have been worn out today.”
Helen smiled and answered, “Okay.”
Helen handed two boxes of chocolate to Verian. Little Jelly Bean and Tyler sat beside Verian and opened the chocolate packaging with their small, adorable hands. As they looked at the unique shapes and the delicate carvings on the chocolate, they squinted their eyes and smiled. Their teeth were smudged with chocolates and after finishing them, they played around in the room.
“I will change into an evening dress at four o’clock. Please ask the hairstylist to come over to style my hair. It should be just in time for dinner when I’m done dressing up.”
“All right.”
Helen suddenly recalled the bouquet toss this morning and asked Xylean and Serene with a roguish smile on her face, “Leannie, Serene, both of you received the flower bouquet from the bride this morning. Do you two want to give a speech on getting the flowers?”
Serene was easily teased, her face flushing with embarrassment. She stuttered while thinking of a way to change the topic. “What-what speech…”
Helen tittered, “For example, when are you going to marry Dr. Jarret?”
Serene sat on the bed and her cheeks reddened. She fidgeted with her clothes while thinking of how to answer Helen. “This… How would I know.”
‘I can’t be the one proposing to Wilson, right?’ Serene thought to herself.
As Helen was teasing Serene, Xylean found an excuse to leave the room. “I’ll go get some air outside. I feel a bit stuffy here.”
After Xylean left the room, Serene turned her head toward Verian and Helen. “As a married person, you two shouldn’t rush us singles into getting married. It just puts pressure on us.”
Verian was a little worried about Xylean. “Serene, go and look for Leannie. I’m scared she’s unhappy with us.”
Helen agreed. “Go. I’ll help distribute the wedding candies here.”
Serene nodded and went out to look for Xylean. In the end, she spotted Xylean at the balcony on the same floor as the presidential suite. Xylean leaned against the railing while drinking a carbonated drink, enjoying the scenery.
Serene grumbled on purpose. “Seriously, what’s wrong with Verian and Helen? Just because they’re married, they want to urge the people around them to get married faster too. I’m still enjoying my single life.”
Xylean smiled faintly. “I’m not angry nor unhappy either. This is a very common topic at our age. You don’t have to worry about me.”
Serene leaned against the railing and turned her head to look at Xylean. “I don’t know how to give moral advice or how to comfort people either. However, I know that we can only live for a few decades, so the ultimate thing we want in life is to be happy. If you’re unhappy having someone by your side, leave them. If you love him, love him with all your might.”
“I get what you’re saying. However, I can’t go against my grain.”
Serene asked her curiously, “But Leannie, President Soan is such a good person. Aren’t you scared of him being snatched away by someone else?”
Xylean sneered. “If anyone can snatch him away from me, it’ll imply that he never belonged to me. The person who is fated to be with me will never leave me no matter what.”
