Chapter 515 Not A Good Idea

To decide on the date of the wedding ceremony, Yannis traveled from South City to North City and discussed at length with Old Master Fudd about the wedding ceremony arrangement. Heaton and Verian hoped that their parents would choose a rest day when everyone did not have to work. However, Old Master Fudd's and Madam Gaunt's opinion was surprisingly the same on that matter. Both of them bluntly told them not to care about that, and they had sent someone to hire a fortune-telling master to see which dates were suitable for them. In the end, the wedding ceremony was fixed on the next Saturday, a day that was suitable for marriage and traveling. The day that Madam Gaunt came, she stayed overnight at the Fudd Family Mansion. Madam Gaunt wanted to chat with Verian and pass on some intimate knowledge on marriage from a mother. Hence, both of them slept together in a room. Little Jelly Bean also fought and pestered them to be included as she wanted to sleep with her grandmother and mother. Therefore, Madam Gaunt and Verian slept on both sides of the bed with Little Jelly Bean in the middle, who perked up her ears to listen in on their conversation. Madam Gaunt patted Little Jelly Bean's little tummy to coax her to sleep as she spoke to Verian. "It has not been easy for you and Heaton to come this far and still be able to be together and to love each other. In the future, both of you must have more patience and tolerance toward one another. I can see that Heaton is very tolerant of you, and so I feel at ease to hand you to him." Verian held Madam Gaunt's hand gently and spoke in a soft voice. "Mom, Heaton and I will definitely be together and continue to be on good terms in our daily life. We will also take good care of Little Jelly Bean and Little Pickle until they are grown up. We still have a long way to go." Madam Gaunt nodded her head. "I worry too much. Heaton treats you well. However, men and women are different. For a woman, she could only love one man in her whole life. Once the freshness from the love died down and the excitement that the men chased after waned, men will doubt their marriage and relationship. Riana, you have to learn how to preserve your marriage." Verian understood her mother's well-intended meaning. "Mom, I didn't know how it works for others when they are in love. When I am with Heaton, I feel that every day is a fresh, brand-new day. I have dated others before Heaton, but I have never felt that sure about my future when I am together with them." Madam Gaunt smiled gently. "Perhaps you and Heaton are a heavenly match and perfect for each other." In the darkness, Little Jelly Bean blinked her bright and big eyes as she listened quietly to their conversation. She slanted her head to the side and drawled softly. "Grandmother, my father and Monty are very much in love with each other. You don't have to worry about them. Monty will be very happy with my father!" Madam Gaunt ruffled Little Jelly Bean's hair in a doting manner and then hugged her tight in her embrace. "All right! I'm not worried about them. I know that Little Jelly Bean's father is a good man, more so, a good father and a good husband." … The next morning, after Verian brought Little Jelly Bean to wash up, she went downstairs with her mother to have breakfast. Once she exited their room, she noticed the master bedroom door nearby was ajar. Verian handed Little Jelly Bean to her mother. "Mom, please take Little Jelly Bean downstairs to have some breakfast. I shall go and have a look at Heaton." "Okay." The moment Verian stepped into the master bedroom, she suddenly received a bear-hug from behind. Verian was temporarily stunned before she giggled at her husband's antics. When she turned her head to look at him, the man was in casual house wear as he laid his head on her shoulder with his eyes closed. He looked tired, as if he had not slept well the whole night. "What happened to you? Did you not sleep well last night?" Heaton snorted lightly. He slowly opened his eyes and glanced at her. "When is your mom leaving?" Verian was at a loss for words. Verian thought it was a funny question. "What are you doing? My mom seldom visits us, and you already want to chase her away on the second day?" "If you continue to sleep with your mom for the next few days, I might experience serious insomnia." Verian furrowed her brows slightly. She turned her whole body toward him and reached out to hug him at his waist. She looked at him with her misty eyes, which radiated a smile. "Can you not exaggerate? If you were to go outstation for work, you would be unable to sleep at all because of my absence?" Verian glanced sideways at him, and she was unable to stop the urge to smile. "My mom was worried that our love's shelf life would come to an end, and you might look at another woman. Well, Mr. Fudd, you seem to be extremely reliant and dependent on me more daily. What to do? How could Mrs. Fudd's charm have such a big effect on you?" Heaton was too lazy to refute her, so he let her praise herself non-stop. Then he carried her in his arms and walked toward the bed. Verian frantically said, "Dad, Mom, and Little Jelly Bean are all having breakfast downstairs. What are you planning to do? They will surely be suspicious if we delay our appearance. Besides, it is already a few hours past daybreak... This is not a good idea!" She glanced at the bright sun in the cloudless sky and imagined them doing such a thing in broad daylight... That was really embarrassing. Heaton placed her gently on the bed, and his thin lips curved upward at her wild imagination. He intentionally teased her. "It is not something that we have never done before. What are you afraid of?" Verian's brows creased, and she tightened her grips on her buttoned shirt. "I don't want to do it now. Dad and Mom will surely laugh at us and treat us as the butt of a joke!" Heaton no longer teased her but snuggled and slept beside her instead. He hugged her waist, and his face cozied itself in her embrace. He closed his eyes, and his low, gruff and melodious whisper drifted into her ear. "Sleep with me for a little while. I'm sleepy and have no energy to make love in broad daylight." Verian was again at a loss for words. Verian peeped at him, but she no longer struggled against him as she looked at his serene sleeping face. She held his hands and also shut her eyes as she drifted off to sleep. They slept until after ten in the morning. When they crawled out of bed, everyone had had their breakfast. Madam Leah heated the food that she had set aside for them so that they could have their breakfast. After breakfast, Heaton went into the study room to do some work. Verian had to write the wedding invitation cards personally, and hence, she carried all the invitation cards to Heaton's study room. As she sat by Heaton's side, she quietly transcribed the invitation cards with a fountain pen. Their time together was serene and wonderful. The man beside her was working seriously as she wrote their wedding invitation cards. Heaton's wedding had become the headline news in the entire North City. Even though the Fudd family did not have many relatives, Heaton and the Fudd Group had many collaboration partners and joint venture partners with whom they dealt with in their many businesses. Verian did not recognize any one of them. As she transcribed the name Randy Mane, Verian could not hold in her laughter. She snorted and laughed heartily. Heaton raised his head in curiosity and shifted his attention toward her. He stared at her sudden outburst. "What's so funny?" Verian pointed at Randy Mane's name on the name list and asked, "Is this Rany Mane someone you knew from your work?" Heaton nodded and temporarily stopped working. He put his arms around the back of her chair. He inched nearer to her and took the time to get a short respite from his work. Verian asked curiously, "Is he not married yet?" "Yeah. Why? Do you know him?" Verian was unable to control her laughter. "Look at his name—Randy Mane. It was a homophone and had another meaning; no one wants him. Why did his parents think of such a weird name?" Heaton glanced at the name and also smiled uncontrollably. "Boss Mane is in his forties now. Logically, he did not need to worry about not being able to get a wife. However, he is still single now. I don't know if it was because no one wants him." "Heaton, you're a gossip too." Verian tapped him lightly on the tip of his nose with the top of the fountain pen. Heaton pulled her into his embrace and half-joked. "Why don't you suggest that he change his name when we meet him?" "That person will probably think that I'm insane." "He won't dare to think that. Who would dare to say my Mrs. Fudd is crazy? He still has some contracts with me." Verian poked and pushed him lightly with her elbow. "That is not nice of you. It is extremely bad for my reputation. One day, the outsiders will surely say that I am a femme fatale." Heaton did not think it was wrong at all, so he teased her instead. "Is it bad being a femme fatale?" "Heaton! Who are you calling a femme fatale?" Verian slammed an invitation card onto his body in mocked anger. "All right, all right. I will write a few copies for you." The man took the fountain pen from her and glanced at the invitation cards that she had completed. He frowned at the handwriting. "Why are the words so ugly?" "Which part is ugly? Its beauty is not obvious in people's eyes! Can you still find people who'd write their invitation cards personally? Most of them would use digital-printed invitation cards, you know? These are the evidence of our heartfelt invitation, and yet you frowned at it. I don't want to write anymore. Since your handwriting is better than mine, you can write them all by yourself then!" As she spoke, Verian wanted to leave immediately in anger. Heaton pulled her back to her seat and started to coax her with a smile. "I have bad eyesight. Let me take a look at it again. Mrs. Fudd's writing does have its characteristics." Were they ugly with their own characteristics? The corner of Verian's mouth curved lopsidedly, and she was at a loss for words.
