Chapter 506 Was He Supporting Her To Go To England?

Verian was completely unfocused as she sat in the backseat during their drive back to the Fudd family home. Little Jelly Bean blinked at Verian before she grabbed onto her arm and shook it. She said, "Monty, I want to play games. May I borrow your phone?" "Oh, sure." Verian snapped out of her trance and fished her phone from her bag before she handed it to Little Jelly Bean. As Heaton drove, he glanced at the mother and daughter duo from the rearview mirror. "Jelly Bean, using the phone in the car is bad for your eyes." Little Jelly Bean mumbled, "I was only playing for a bit." The little rascal snapped back at him in a childish manner. However, Heaton decided to ignore her. He was a bit worried about Verian instead. Ever since she had a conversation with that judge, she seemed lost. Heaton raised his brows slightly and asked, "What did Judge Fox say to you? Why are you so quiet?" She should be happy since she made it to the finals. Why was she so troubled? Verian had not thought about how she should talk to Heaton about that, so she squeezed her palms and said, "Nothing. Just a little stressed out since I got into the finals so suddenly. I need to think of a new entry." "Don't treat it as a competition. Just think of it as a game. Of course, winning is nice, but we have no reason to be depressed if we've lost. So, you shouldn't feel too burdened. Just sit back and enjoy the ride." Verian smiled and replied obediently, "Alright." Everything would be easy as long as Heaton was with her. The man always had the power to make anyone feel safe. Perhaps it was due to his ability to settle all of her blunders so smoothly all the time. Maybe it was due to Verian's love for him, so she was willing to believe in him. Little Jelly Bean immediately ran to the living room to watch cartoons when they arrived home. Verian was not motivated or excited about the finals; she sat alone in the backyard as she watched the twilight sun. She seemed very hesitant about something. The Royal Beauty Academy in England was the most prestigious art academy in the world. However, her entire focus should be on her husband and children after she married Heaton. Since she already had her second child, her focus should be even more invested in her family. She thought about waiting until Little Pickle turned three when he could speak and hop around; she would be able to relax and do the things she wanted then. Perhaps she could continue her career in art. Her plans had been perfect for herself. She had already given birth to two children and cut ties with the working society; could she work again after a few years? There was no perfect solution for both family and career. More often than not, one would have to sacrifice one in the pursuit of the other. … Heaton spent a brief time working in the study, and he did not see Verian when he went downstairs. Madam Leah had prepared dinner. She said, "Sir, when I went to pick some vegetables from the backyard, I noticed Madam sitting alone in the backyard for a really long time. She seemed troubled by something, and she did not even notice it when I called out to her several times. Sir, did you argue with Madam?" A shred of worry flashed in Heaton's eyes as he said, "No. I'll take a look." … When Heaton arrived at the backyard, he noticed the woman had her face lowered as if she was in deep thought. "What are you thinking about?" The man approached her. He stood next to her as he placed his long slender hand on her tender white nape and gently rubbed it. Verian heard his voice. When she looked at his handsome face, her mood gradually improved. She reached out to hug his waist as she still sat on the long bench. Then she leaned closer to him and pressed her face into his belly. "Guess what Judge Fox told me today?" Heaton lowered his gaze to look at her as he said, "He loved your design and wanted to buy the complete rights." Verian shook her head and said with a light chuckle, "I think you're the only person in the world who would want to buy full rights to my design. Other people wouldn't do that." Heaton was speechless. Verian stared at him with her beady eyes. Heaton looked incredibly handsome, and he seemed extremely elegant too. When the setting sun rays shone on his handsome face, it formed a glimmer of orange light. That caused his dark eyes to light up dimly as well. When he noticed the woman in his embrace was staring at him the entire time, Heaton raised his hand to brush against her nose. He asked in a loving tone, "Why are you staring at me? Is there something you want?" "Judge Fox told me that they would give me the opportunity to study at the Royal Beauty Academy in England. This is usually given to designers who have won the creative award. He even told me that it is a rare opportunity, and I should seriously consider taking it." The dim glimmer in Heaton's was extinguished gradually. His gaze looked deep, and she could not tell what he felt about it. Even if there were no apparent emotions on his face, Verian could feel that his hand had stiffened slightly. Verian sighed and said, "Heaton, if you don't like it, then I won't go. I've thought about it for a really long time. Even though this is a rare opportunity, it is not more important than my family. I…" "How long will you need to be there?" Heaton interrupted her. Verian was stunned, and she wanted to get a clear look at the emotions on his face. However, he kept it exceptionally well hidden. She could not tell if he was angry. She said, "I have no idea. I didn't ask, but it should be around a year and a half. Little Pickle is only two, and I am still breastfeeding him. I won't go since I will worry anyway." It was not only Little Pickle's sake. Even though she could fly between those two places, it was still quite far. Heaton was a busy man, and if she studied in England, she would be busy as well. They would not have enough chances to meet, and she could not bear parting with him for so long. Even if she had been away from him, their time apart had been relatively short, the longest time only about two to three months. She would not be able to keep herself together if she were to be away from him for a year and a half. She would miss him. However, when her statement reached Heaton's ears, he understood everything. Verian wanted to go, but she had a family, so she could only give up the opportunity. Heaton wanted to spoil Verian. He did not only want the best for her; he would support her dreams as well. Heaton patted the back of her head. It felt the same as she usually did. Then he said, "If you really want to go, you don't have to worry about Little Jelly Bean and Little Pickle. We have a babysitter at home, and while you're in England, the maids and the babysitter will take great care of the children. I will also return home earlier to take care of them." "Heaton?" Verian raised her brows slightly. Heaton's Adam's apple twitched slightly before slightly he released her as he said, "Let's have dinner now. Stop sitting out here alone. Let's hurry back." Heaton and Verian entered the house, but the entire atmosphere felt odd. When dinner started, Old Master Fudd joined them as well. After Madam Leah called Little Jelly Bean from the living room, the little girl mumbled something, but Verian ignored her. She was thinking about what Heaton had said and meant. Did he want her to go to England? However, his expression looked calm. He was not mad, but he did not seem happy, either.
