It was at that moment that Samuel realized Annabelle had only spoken harshly that day because Elise had provoked her.
He had seen the shattered wedding photo on the floor when he got home, but he thought Annabelle was just throwing a tantrum and didn't give it much thought.
But now, Lucas was telling him that it was Elise who had smashed the frame and torn the picture with her own hands.
He couldn't even imagine how Annabelle must have felt when she saw the photo she had painstakingly chosen from hundreds of options, torn apart right in front of her.
He clenched his jaw without even realizing it. His eyes were bloodshot as he stared at Lucas.
"What else? What happened to the diary?"
Annabelle had never been one to write in a journal. As far as Samuel knew, she had only one diary, and she had treasured it for more than ten years. It had been a keepsake from her late parents.
