Chapter 11
Samuel felt as if all his senses had shut down in an instant. His legs turned stiff, rooting him to the spot.
The crowded terminal seemed frozen in time to him.
His ears only caught Annabelle's name from the broadcast, and his eyes were fixed on that familiar name on the big screen.
After what felt like forever, Samuel suddenly jolted as if waking from a nightmare. His chest rose and fell in sharp, frantic breaths.
As he turned to leave, his legs went numb beneath him, and he collapsed to the floor.
Simon rushed over to help, but Samuel went limp like a rag doll. No matter how much Simon tried, he couldn't lift him.
Samuel was completely oblivious to everything except the crushing pain in his chest that made it hard to breathe, along with a sharp headache that felt like electric shocks.
"Annabelle..." he muttered subconsciously, but no one answered.
Reality finally hit him. The looping broadcast of the victims' names felt like a dagger, stabbing at him again and again.
