Chapter 179
The atmosphere grew heavy, cold, and unfeeling.
Jonathan tilted his head up slightly to look at Frederick and me.
Even though he stood below us, he still had an air of superiority about him.
A cold glint flashed as tension crept into the space.
I instinctively straightened my posture. His oppressive stare made me uncomfortable.
I turned around and said to Frederick, "I'm heading inside."
Frederick nodded, subconsciously glancing downward.
Without saying another word, he followed me inside. Then, he closed the balcony door behind us, cutting off any potential view from the outside.
Soon, it was time to get off work.
Employees packed up and began to leave. I had just finished wrapping things up when Frederick approached me.
"Want a ride?"
I shook my head and said, "Did you forget? I live here now."
Frederick blinked in realization. "Sorry, it slipped my mind for a second," he said.
"It's okay." I smiled at him. "If you've got something going on, you can go on ahead."
