Chapter 72

The chair was made of steel! If it hit me, I might die.  Amy looked delicate, but it was a piece of cake for her to hold the chair up.  Bang! Harris lifted his leg and kicked Amy on the waist, so she fell to the ground, crying hysterically. "Thank you!" I looked at Amy with lingering fear. I didn't expect her to kill me with weapons.  Oh no! With a chair! That was my previous worry in the pet store. Secrets would bring me trouble.  "How are you? Alright?" Harris looked me up and down to make sure that I was safe and sound. "I'm fine!" Amy was being taken away by two strong men, so I shook my head. "Why? She hurt others and ruined herself." Right then, David looked at me with complex feelings in his eyes.  Then, he shifted his gaze to the bodyguard and asked, "Do you mean Jason from the Brown Group?" "Yes, that is him." I felt a chill down my spine. Did David recognize me? Should I say that I was a servant working for Jason? However, how could a servant come here with Harris? While I was thinking about what to do, David walked to me. "You're Kelly, aren't you?" I smiled awkwardly. "Nice to meet you, Uncle." My smile was ugly. "You know that! You should have told me who you are earlier!" David's smile was gentle, but in my eyes, it was somewhat weird.  "I, well." I was at a loss for word.  Harris responded for me. "She was afraid of causing trouble." "Yes, yes!" I expressed my agreement.  "Let's catch up with each other. Harris, may I take her away?" Speaking, David placed his arm on my shoulders. "Catch up?" Harris frowned. "What about later?" "We are family!" David led me away. "I'll send you back after dinner." Harris shut his mouth. He couldn't say no because David was my uncle.  I looked back and waved to Harris to tell him to go home first. David took me to a lake. I had to say that the rich in Costsley knew how to enjoy their lives.  There was a restaurant, and people dined on the ship. The dinner time was over. It was dark, and there were no ships on the lake.  David led me to a lane and said slowly, "I underestimated you." "Oh!" I responded bsent-mindedly.  "Jason, and then Harris. Is there a man you can't seduce?" I understood what David meant. He was accusing me of being wanton. I talked back with a frown. "Is that your so-called catching-up? Don't forget that I am a widow now. I can be with whoever I want. "Do you ask your ex-girlfriends to wait for you?" "You have a sharp tongue!" David stopped, picked up an azalea by the roadside, and handed it to me. "Do you know what flower it is?" "Yes." I didn't understand. "An azalea!" "Yes. Did you see the road sign?" David continued to ask. "No!" I answered honestly.  People, 6 feet tall, didn't know what those, 5 feet tall, saw. A petite girl like me couldn't see what the tall saw.  "I see!" David threw the flower away and walked on.  I felet a chill down my spine. David sounded weird, but I couldn't understand what he meant at all. However! I could tell that he was hostile to me. I caught up with David and plucked up the courage to say, "Uncle, I don't think you like me." "I don't even like Odette. Why should I like you?" David asked. "Then you don't have to take me here for dinner!" I stopped and took out my mobile phone to call the bodyguard. To my surprise, David snatched my phone away with only two fingers. "I don't like you." "However, I will do what I should as a good uncle." "I should treat my niece at the first meeting, shouldn't I?" YELLOW was more real than you, hypocrite! My phone was taken away, so I would have to play my role as a meek niece.  Finally, we reached the lakeside. A small wooden boat with many dishes stopped there. "You go first. I want to use the bathroom." "All right." I nodded, wishing to finish this meal as soon as possible. I felt embarrassed to hang out with David. On the boat, I suddenly felt dizzy.  When I woke up, it was completely dark. Even the lights by the lake went out.  The boat I was in floated in the middle of the lake. I was speechless. After my gaze swept around, I realized how grave my situation was. "Did that famous actor, my uncle by blood, leave me in the lake?" "Is anyone here? Help!" David took away my cell phone. He didn't want to be a good uncle. He tried to let me die of coldness. A wolf howl came from the distant mountain. I shivered with fear, and the boat drifted in the cold wind. It was cold. It was so cold. I looked up at the sky and found that the dark clouds were thick. It would rain soon.  However, there wasn't a shelter on this wooden boat.  If... I didn't dare to imagine what would happen.  I huddled up on the chair, and tears flooded out from my eyes. After a while, the wind roared, and the rain poured down. The lake was enormous. I couldn't see the shore. The wave became large and almost overturned the boat several times. Carroll, I would die soon. Remember to take good care of YELLOW for me. When I cried in despair, a searchlight brought light to my eyes.  Was that a cruise ship? I stood up by holding the boat tightly. Against the wind and rain, I waved desperately at the cruise ship. "Help, help!" That cruise ship did come for me because I saw the person standing on the deck was Carroll. Carroll wore a black raincoat. Although most of his face was covered, I could recognize him at a glance by his figure. Was this a dream? I pinched my thigh. It was true. It was not a dream. The cruise ship approached my wooden boat. Carroll came over along the rope ladder, held me with one hand, and patted my back to comfort me softly. "Don't be afraid." I wrapped myself in the blanket and shivered. I cried so hard that I felt breathless. I tightly tugged at Carroll's sleeve with one hand. "Let's go home, shall we?" "Okay! Let's go home." Speaking, Carroll held the rope ladder with one hand and made a gesture upward.  The rope ladder rose slowly. A few minutes later, Carroll and I were in the warm cabin.
