Chapter 62
"Madam, are you alright?"
The bodyguard, who had waited at the end of the corridor, rushed over for the noise. Then, he separated me from Joson with his sturdy body.
"My hand hurts." After one glance at my red and swollen palm, I narrowed my eyes and squinted at Joson. I suppressed my anger and said, "I was taught to fight back. This is my first practice. It feels good."
Joson now calmed down. Looking at the bodyguard, Joson said to me, "You are not Melody. Who are you?"
"It doesn't matter who I am. I want both Stephen and Perry to become vegetables."
I took the business card from Carroll out of my bag.
It was black with only a golden word, Brown.
I held up the card with two fingers. "I'll wait for you here. Bring Stephen over."
Joson looked aghast after recognizing the business card. He looked at me in horror, "Who, who are you?"
"Does that matter? I am not Melody, so can't I buy Stephen's life with two million dollars?" I asked.
"I won't waste my time with you since you are not Orva's family. However, I have some advice for you."
As if no conflicts had happened, Joson became cool and calm.
"I don't need it, thank you!" I rolled my eyes and strode to a nurse.
"Madam, could you please call the security guards over?"
"What is wrong?" Noticing the bodyguard behind me, the nurse asked in a polite tone.
I forced a smile and pointed at Joson, who still stood there. "Don't let this man get close to Orva. He came on behalf of the culprit."
The nurse quickly nodded, "Don't worry. No one can enter the ICU."
"That's good." I was relieved.
"Madam, it's getting late. We should go home." The bodyguard reminded me in a low voice.
I looked at Joson and found him looking at me.
In his eyes, I saw his suppressed anger.
After one glare at Joson, I followed the bodyguard into the elevator.
Out of the hospital, I saw the familiar Lincoln.
It was Abdi's car.
Abdi played with his phone in the driver's seat as if he was waiting for someone.
Abdi raised his head as if he felt my gaze. Then, he looked me into my eyes.
A few seconds later, he got out of the car elegantly.
"Abdi." I greeted him perfunctorily.
Abdi squinted at the bodyguard behind me. "What's wrong? Are the dishes in Cheuk Restaurant unfriendly to your digestive system? Did you suffer from loose bowels?"
Obviously, he knew what had happened to Cheuk Restaurant today.
I took one step backward subconsciously. "Do you want to scold or slap me?"
"I have better thing to do." Leaning against the car, Abdi lit a cigarette.
"Well, see you." I turned around and walked to my car.
Abdi's voice sounded behind me after I took two steps forward. "You have everything you want now. You don't have to make things difficult for Odette."
An emotional turmoil didn't happen because I had heard speeches like this many times.
The meeting was over. Carroll was watching TV on the sofa when I arrived home.
"At dusk, an assault happened in the parking lot of Cultural Tourism Street. The police said that the victim was a masochist. The investigation was in process."
Furious, I ran to turn off the TV. "That is not true!"
"What is the truth?" Carroll's voice was ice-cold.
Only then did I find that Carroll looked livid, and his sharp gaze fixed on me.
"You, you know everything, don't you?" I lowered my head timidly.
"Kelly, I spoiled you too much. You ran out alone in the middle of the night to confront them! Do you know that you were asking for trouble?"
"However, Orva is so pathetic!"
I raised my head, and my eyes brimmed with tears.
I knew that Carroll was worried about me.
I lost control of my emotions, so I squatted on the ground, crying.
After a helpless sigh, Carroll stuffed one tissue into my arms. "I did spoil you, or you wouldn't howl before my lecture."
I wiped my nose and then made signs, "She has two long scars on her face, and her skull caved in. Masochist? No way! Stephen made a scene in our stall last time. Do you know that? A lawyer, Joson, wants to hush up this crime with two million dollars. How disgusting!"
"What did you do then?" Carroll's voice became soft.
Hearing this, I stopped crying, raised my swollen hand, and said, "I slapped him."
"Then what are you crying for?"
"Well..." I leaned prone on his knees. It took me a long time to say, "You're fierce, so I'm scared."
Carroll pursed his lips, looking unhappy, "You slapped a lawyer for a stranger but accused me of being fierce for one sentence."
"She's not a stranger. She's the only friend I have here," I immediately corrected Carroll.
I wouldn't go against a pervert for a stranger.
"The only friend? Not another one?" Carroll frowned.
After deliberations, I got a negative answer. "No, I had YELLOW. I was an illegitimate child, so only YELLOW didn't mind playing with me. After it died, its daughter kept me company."
The light in my eyes dimed. I had been away from Phoenix Village for two months, so how had YELLOW been?
"What is the name of its daughter?" Carroll asked.
"YELLOW!"
I blurted out. In return was a silent sigh from Carroll.
"I shouldn't ask you questions about names."
Carroll pulled me up from the ground. "It's late. Go take a shower. I'll take you there tomorrow."
"Where? I want to keep Orva company. I'm afraid that Joson will cause trouble again."
"Wait a minute. What is the name of that lawyer?" Carroll turned my head with a smile on his face.
"Joson!"
His smile gradually became bright. "Oh, he's your uncle."
I was shocked, "What?"
"He's your uncle!" Carroll said word by word, enjoying the farce.
What?!
I had tricked my so-called sister in the afternoon and slapped my uncle at night!
The Smith family must hate me now.
Carroll impatiently urged when I was in a daze, "Go now! Take a shower. Are you waiting for me to help you?"
I smiled awkwardly. "No, thanks. How can trouble you with this trifle? I will go now."
After that, I ran into the bathroom.
