Matching Wrist Chains
"Really? Why didn't you tell me earlier?"
I muttered to myself, turned around, and buckled my clothes in a panic.
The blush on my face did not fade at all. I could only vent my anger on the huge floor-to-ceiling window.
Outside the window, the city was brightly lit.
I could overlook the night scene of the whole city from Sky City.
When I was in Phoenix Village, I heard that this was the capital of nightlife. Everyone joked that it was "Night City."
I had been here for half a month, but I had never enjoyed the night scene here. As expected, it was real.
In particular, the open space in front of the building downstairs was lit with colorful lights. It was crowded with people, and it was very lively.
The floor was so high that I couldn't see what was going on below.
"It's true that children like to join in the fun," Carroll said leisurely.
When he was free, he liked to play with a sandalwood bracelet, and the light wooden fragrance soon filled the whole dining room.
I was still angry and rolled my eyes at the glass. "There are lively places. It's not like your home."
"Then tell me what a lively place looks like." He leaned forward and looked at me with great interest.
I thought for a moment and sat opposite him. "There are flowers on the balcony, rice in the pot, and someone waiting at home."
"This is the life I've been yearning for since I was a child. Whether it's the Bamboo Pavilion or here, there's not a single pot of flowers and grass. It doesn't look like home. It's just like a sleeping place."
To be more precise, Carroll's home could only be called a house.
"Flowers and grass, right?" Carroll took out his phone and pressed the button.
Jason turned into the living room and said, "Mr. Carroll."
Carroll gave me a look. "Add some flowers and grass to the house tomorrow. Young Madam thinks the house is too cheerless."
"Then do we need to hire a servant to take care of the flowers and plants?" Jason carefully recorded Carroll's words on an iPad and asked in a serious tone.
My God!
I widened my eyes.
Was there a need to hire a servant for the flowers and plants in the house? It was nothing more than pouring water and changing a pot occasionally.
Seeing that I was surprised, Carroll pinched my nose hard. "Sweetie, do you know how to plant flowers?"
He pinched me so hard that my nose twitched. I rubbed my nose and said, "Yes."
Carroll loosened his grip and turned his neck. "I don't have to pay for the servants. Get changed and I'll show you around."
Hearing this, I immediately became interested. I pointed to the lively alley outside the window and asked, "Do you want to hang out there?"
"Yes."
I jumped up from the chair and said, "Mr. Carroll, you're the best husband in the world."
After that, I trotted back to my bedroom and changed my clothes.
Jason and Carroll were already waiting in the living room. When they saw me come out, Jason handed a black mask to Carroll and said, "Mr. Carroll, there are so many people on Cultural Tourism Street."
"Uh-huh," Carroll said faintly and put on his mask.
I stared at him, lost in thought.
Usually, my attention was focused on the outline of his face. Today, when he put on the mask and only showed his eyebrows and eyes, I found that his eyes were deep and dark without any impurities.
In particular, the worry shown by his sword-shaped eyebrows made me want to explore it unconsciously.
"Kelly." Carroll came over and held my hand. "It's very rude to stare at people. Didn't your family teach you?"
"Aren't you my family? You really haven't taught me."
I playfully stuck out my tongue and followed him into the elevator.
Carroll's eyebrows moved slightly, carrying a hint of a smile. "Do you feel like you are too bold right now? You always talk back."
Eh...
Did he start to complain?
A wise man knew when to behave. I quickly leaned my head on his arm and said, "Mr. Carroll, I think God is a little partial. Why did he make you so handsome but I'm so ordinary..."
"When you see God, can you help me ask him why he is so unfair?"
"The Sky City has a complaint mechanism. I wonder if I can complain since God is partial."
"Pfft." Jason couldn't help laughing.
Carroll gave him a warning look from the corner of his eye. He held me in his arms and said, "Nonsense."
"Hehe." I smiled as if I had succeeded.
Right now, I was indeed no longer afraid of Carroll, and I only felt that he was amiable.
This feeling was like that of a family member.
I never experienced the feeling of getting along with my family since I was young. It happened that Carroll made up for the emptiness of my feelings.
After taking a turn from Sky City, we arrived at the alley. We walked for less than five minutes.
I let go of Carroll's hand. "Wow! The Sky Cultural Tourism Street."
It was too lively. There were all kinds of exquisite little stuff and a wide range of snacks.
The people wandering inside were all young people in fashionable clothes.
Carroll frowned and held my hand in his palm again. "It seems that I've raised an ungrateful person. You leave me behind when you see delicious food and interesting things."
"No." I dragged him inside. "It's so fun. Of course, I have to walk around."
Jason followed us all the way. After walking for a while, he said, "Mr. Carroll, it seems that the results of the project on Cultural Tourism Street are not bad."
"Then let's add all the real estate nearby the Brown Group." Carroll was pulled by me, and he was a little reluctant to walk, so he simply let go of me. "Don't get lost."
"I won't. Don't worry because pets will find their home." I said perfunctorily as I walked to the stall selling wrist chains in front of me.
A delicate and pretty girl was busy weaving a wrist chain. The stall beside her was empty, which look a little depressing. There were two broken lamps on the "ten dollars each" signboard.
The simple two red ropes were casually rubbed by her and turned into a heart-shaped button, which was very delicate.
I was shocked by her skillful hands. "Miss, you're amazing."
"Do you like it?" She raised her head and smiled gently.
"Yes." I took out the only 20 dollars from my pocket and handed it to her. "Can you give me two?"
After a while, I got two new wrist chains. Not far away, Carroll was talking to Jason. I raised the wrist chain and ran over. I pulled up Carroll's hand and put it on for him.
"It's for you. It's pretty, isn't it?"
There was a small heart of the same color in the middle of the wrist chain. I raised my wrist and showed it to him. "One for each of us."
He raised his eyebrows. "Matching wrist bands?"
I frowned. "For a couple?"
Hearing this, Carroll twisted my body over. He pointed at the signboard and said, "Don't you recognize the words?"
To my surprise, I found that the damaged part of the sign was "Couples' wrist chains."
Eh...
I pulled his hand and tried to pull down the wrist chain.
He raised his arm above his head and asked, "Do you want to take back what you gave me?"
"Give it to me first, and I'll give you something else." I jumped up and wanted to grab him.
In the end, it ended with my failure.
He was 1.9 meters tall, and I was 1.6 meters tall.
He raised his hand, and I could only reach it by stepping on the high ladder.
Seeing that I had given up, he lowered his hand and touched my hair like rubbing a cat. "Sweetie, shall I give you a gift in return?"
I looked up dejectedly, but my curiosity was still aroused. "What gift?"
All of a sudden, Carroll grabbed my armpit and put me on his shoulder with a little force.
