Chapter 66 A Clash and a Choice
They crashed to the ground together, wheelchair and all.
Oscar Merritt hit the pavement hard, dazed and groaning as he pushed himself up.
"Are you okay?"
At the sound of Violet Leach's voice, Oscar snapped his head up. Seeing her pale face, a complex storm surged inside him—heart and mind overwhelmed.
He sniffed—blood.
His eyes swept over her, and when he saw the wound on her arm, his pupils widened in shock.
She was hurt!
She'd been injured saving him!
Why would she throw her life away for him? She could have just walked away…
As Oscar's thoughts spiraled, six or seven masked men jumped from the van, surrounding them with menacing intent.
Both Violet and Oscar instantly realized—the crash wasn't an accident. It was a setup.
