[Julius’ POV] I always knew how to hide my anger behind a well-crafted mask. It was a skill that I had acquired from a very young age. My father always told me that the key to our family’s success over the centuries was mainly due to deception. Although I had no desire to take over the role as head of the family just yet, I made sure that I was well inept to handle any possible challenge. And according to my father, Violet Viora was a rather difficult challenge. Neither my father nor I truly had any idea why Violet had collapsed the night of the gala. No matter, Kane, ever the opportunist, decided that I needed to be one to reach out to Violet and inquire about her health and well-being. “Make it appear as though you were worried sick for her,” Kane had explained. “You two really seemed to be hitting it off at the gala, now is the time to extend that same friendly hand and try to get closer.” I’d always been naturally intrigued by Violet. For such a headstrong woman, I
