Chapter 154
Susan's POV:
The moment I stepped into the hospital, the smell of antiseptic stung my nose. My heels clicked sharply against the marble floor as I walked down the long hallway, my heart racing faster with every step.
For days I had been restless. There was no news about Veronica’s death. That could only mean one thing — she was saved. She was alive.
And if she was alive, then everything I worked for was slipping out of my fingers.
I had to see for myself. I had to know.
But what I didn’t expect was to find them standing there.
Haley. Logan. And Peter.
All three were outside a VIP ward, talking in low voices. Peter’s expression was calm, too calm, and Logan’s hand was resting protectively on Haley’s shoulder. She leaned into him, looking small, like she belonged there.
The sight made bile rise in my throat.
Peter’s eyes were the first to find me. The moment they landed on me, his calmness cracked. His gaze darkened, sharp and accusing.
My breath hitched. So. He knew.
Of course, Veronica
