Lia’s POV
I’m furious. Beyond furious. The anger simmered, a volcanic eruption threatening to spill over. This is precisely why I never wanted to come back. This is why I had meticulously avoided any situation that might lead to a confrontation with either of them. Seeing them, hearing their voices, watching their pathetic posturing—it just reopened all my insecurities, all the failures and heartbreaks I had worked so hard to bury. The old wounds, barely scabbed over, were ripped wide open again, bleeding fresh pain.
“Airport,” I barked at the driver, not even looking back. He nodded, probably used to my abrupt commands, and efficiently navigated the streets toward the international terminal. I needed to get out, to escape the suffocating memories of this place, of them.
