Chapter 1465

"Turns out you and my master are brothers." Mable was surprised because she had never heard her master mention having a brother. Wilbur chuckled a few times, sipped his tea, and leisurely said, "We are indeed brothers, but also enemies." Mable was taken aback. "Enemies?" "Yes, he stole my beloved woman, treated her poorly, and ultimately caused her death." To put it bluntly, their enmity stemmed from a woman. Wilbur spoke indifferently, "I wanted revenge, but he disappeared without a trace. Later, I inadvertently encountered Rory and discovered he was Rory's son. I even thought at the time that I should repay the father's debt by killing Rory." Blair looked at Wilbur and asked, "Then why didn't you act?” If he had killed Rory, there would not have been much trouble afterward. Wilbur's face showed no emotion, and he spoke slowly, "It might be because Rory might be the son of the woman I loved." So, he showed mercy and did not act. Mable stared at Wilbur briefly before speaking, "It's probably not." "Hmm?" Wilbur stared at Mable, then heard her continue, "Rory isn't Master's biological son; he's an adopted son." Wilbur's eyes flickered, and he stared at Mable, momentarily speechless. Yohan adopted Rory? He had always thought they were father and son. "Are you sure?" he asked Mable. Mable nodded. "I'm sure. Rory himself knows about this. Master never hid anything from him regarding his background." Wilbur concealed his emotions and said lightly, "Then Yohan must have regarded Rory as his own son; otherwise, he wouldn't have taught him his skills." Wilbur could not quite grasp his current mood. He felt somewhat relieved that Rory was not Yohan's biological son, yet slightly disappointed that Rory was not the son of the woman he loved. Mable knew that by "skills," Wilbur meant poison. Master Yohan personally taught Rory's mastery of poison. "It was Rory's own interest in this field, and he's also naturally gifted in it." Blair, who was nearby, heard Mable's words and squeezed her hand, his tone slightly sour. "Mabes, are you praising him?" Mable immediately said, "I'm not praising him; his expertise in poison is indeed remarkable." Wilbur chuckled lightly, his eyes carrying a hint of chill. "Everything in the world has its counterbalance. Even the most powerful poison can find its antidote." "That's true." Wilbur set down his teacup and stood up. "Well, I have other matters to attend to, so I'll take my leave." Blair invited Wilbur to stay for dinner, but Wilbur declined. As he was about to leave, he turned to Mable and said, "Don't forget to pay your respects to your master. Help me bring a bouquet for him.” Mable nodded. "Alright." After Wilbur left, Mable looked at Blair and said, "Once you're fully recovered and everything is resolved, I'll take you to visit my master." Her master had been incredibly kind to her, and now that she was married with a spouse and children, she should inform her master. Even though he was no longer in this world, he would surely be pleased for her. "Okay."
