Chapter 1229
Eugenie held Mable's hand with an innocent smile and spoke sincerely. "You must believe me." Worried that Mable would not trust her, Eugenie emphasized, "Mrs. Fowler, everything I'm saying is true."
Mable smiled, "I know; Blair already explained it to me yesterday."
"That's good." In relief, Eugenie patted her heart and said, "I've been worried all day, afraid that this would affect your relationship with Master Blair."
Mable smiled and was about to say something when she saw a maid carrying Lemon down the stairs.
"Madam, you're back. Miss wants you to hold her," the maid said.
Lemon looked at her mommy and reached out her arms from afar, wanting her mommy to pick her up.
"Little Lemon." Mable walked over and took Lemon from the maid.
Concerned about Mable's injured hand, Aunt Grace said, "Madam, let me do it. Master Blair specifically instructed that you shouldn't hold Miss with your injured hand."
Mable held Lemon on the couch and replied, "It's okay. I'll let her sit on my lap. No effort is needed."
Eugenie bent down and looked at Lemon sitting on Mable's lap. "Wow, Mrs. Fowler, is this you and Master Blair's daughter, Little Lemon? She’s adorable."
Mable nodded and smiled. "Yes, her full name is Leena Fowler, and we call her Little Lemon."
"What a lovely name." Eugenie reached out and played with Lemon. “Hello, Little Lemon. Can Auntie Eugenie touch your hand?”
Lemon did not shy away and held Eugenie’s hand.
"Little Lemon, say hi to Auntie Eugenie."
"Auntie." Little Lemon spoke with a sweet, childish voice.
Eugenie held Lemon's tiny hand and gently placed her fingers on her wrist pulse. "Little Lemon is so well-behaved, and she looks just like you when she smiles."
Mable looked at Lemon and smiled. "Really? I think her eyes resemble Blair's."
Eugenie played with Lemon's hand for a while, confirmed what she had in mind, and then quietly withdrew her hand.
"I didn't bring anything with me today. I hope you don't mind," Eugenie scratched her head. Suddenly remembering something, she took off the necklace she was wearing around her neck.
"Little Lemon, this is Auntie’s gift to you."
Mable looked at it and saw a small jade pendant, not much bigger than a pinky nail but of exceptionally high quality. It was not an ordinary item, especially since it was something Eugenie had been wearing.
"It's not necessary. This…”
"It's alright, take it. Although it's not worth much, I had it from Nanker City. It serves as a talisman."
Eugenie said as she put the jade pendant around Lemon's neck.
She gently patted Lemon's head, her face filled with affection. "I hope this talisman will protect Little Lemon and help her grow up healthy and safe."
Since Eugenie insisted, Mable did not want to refuse anymore and thanked her, saying, "Thank you."
"You're welcome."
Eugenie stood up and said, “I have other things to do and will take my leave for now. Bye.”
Mable wanted to treat her to dinner. However, Eugenie insisted she leave for other important matters.
After leaving the villa, Eugenie got into her car and called Blair.
"Mr. Fowler, I just left your house."
Blair's voice came from the phone, "Have you seen Little Lemon?"
Eugenie, eating a lollipop, replied, "Yes, I can confidently tell you that your daughter didn't inherit the Necro Poison."
"That's a relief."
Listening to his tone, it seemed like a genuine sigh of relief.
"Regarding developing an antidote for the Necro Poison, I'll need your blood sample. When are you available? I will come to find you.”
Eugenie paused momentarily, continuing, “It has to be in the morning, on an empty stomach, without drinking or eating anything."
Blair said, "How about tomorrow morning? I'll be at the company before nine o'clock. You can come find me then."
"Sounds good."
