Chapter 1224
Blair noticed the change and quickly released his grip, his face filled with concern. "Mabes, what's wrong?"
Mable touched her head. The pain just now was as if someone had pricked her scalp with a silver needle, causing her to break into a cold sweat.
However, it had come and gone so quickly. She could not feel anything now.
She held her head, her face contorted in pain. "My head suddenly hurt."
"Hurt?" Blair supported Mable's shoulder, checking the spot she held, but he found nothing unusual.
"Mabes..."
Suddenly, Mable raised her head, looking at Blair with astonishment. "Blair, I felt pain just now!"
Mable felt both surprised and relieved. Could it be that her damaged sensory nerves had a chance to recover?
Blair finally realized that Mable's supposedly loss of sensation had suddenly appeared. "Mabes, has your sensation returned?"
Mable extended her hand. "Pinch me."
Blair hesitated, not wanting to cause her any more pain, and held her hand gently. "Why would I pinch you? Let's go to the hospital."
He was about to instruct the driver to head to the hospital, but Mable lifted her hand and bit her hand.
"What are you doing, Mable? Are you trying to hurt yourself?" Blair was angry and worried when he saw the teeth marks on her hand.
Mable sighed inwardly. "Don't worry; my sensory nerves haven't recovered." She had not felt any pain.
She pointed at the bite marks on her hand. "It doesn't hurt at all."
Blair glared at Mable, his tone turning serious. "The absence of pain doesn't mean there's no harm! Mable, I'm telling you, if you dare to self-harm like this again, I'll tie up both your hands and feet!"
Mable pursed her lips and did not say anything.
Blair always kept a first aid kit in his car. He took out some pain-relieving ointment and gently applied it to Mable's hand, afraid of causing her any discomfort.
Mable watched Blair apply the ointment and whispered, "You don't have to be so careful. I can't feel the pain."
Blair looked at Mable intently. "Mable, there might still be a chance for your sensory nerves to recover, right?"
Mable ran her fingers through her hair. "We'll see."
She was not sure herself.
Blair continued to gaze at Mable, hesitating to speak. He hoped Mable's sensory nerves would recover, but he also had concerns. After all, she still had not been cured of the Necro Poison.
When the Necro Poison flared up, the pain it caused could drive a person insane. He did not want her to endure that kind of suffering again.
"Mabes."
Blair suddenly embraced Mable and spoke in a low, magnetic voice, "I'm sorry for making you suffer.”
Whether it was the Necro Poison inside of Mable, her sensory nerves, or hand injury, he would take care of all these injuries for her.
Mable had heard Blair apologize too many times already. She shook her head. "It's not your fault. You don't need to apologize."
Blair released Mable and cautiously asked, "About what happened at the hotel just now, have you forgiven me?"
Mable replied calmly, "You said you had nothing to do with Eugenie. If that's the case, then there’s no need for an apology."
Mable realized that she had been too impulsive. She had misunderstood Blair just because she saw him coming out of Eugenie's room.
Blair held Mable's hand and kissed the back of it. "It was my fault. I should have told you earlier that I was going to see Eugenie or arranged to meet her somewhere else. After all, I'm a married man, and being alone in a room with her wasn't appropriate. I didn't think it through."
Mable was no longer angry after hearing Blair's words. Then, she asked, "Was there something important for you to meet Eugenie so early in the morning?"
