Chapter 87 The Costly Breakfast
She entered the kitchen, retrieved the porridge, and sat at Bernard Jacobson's dining table to eat.
They ate in silence, adhering to the old adage: "Speak not at meals." Only after breakfast, when Vivian set her spoon down, did Bernard say, "Three hundred for one breakfast. Two days make six hundred. The milk's on the house. Don't forget to settle up."
"Pfft—cough, cough…"
Vivian was utterly shocked. "Six hundred? Is your food plated in gold?"
"Since you're my sister, I've already waived the delivery fee."
He said it with perfect seriousness.
Vivian inwardly rolled her eyes. "You're doing this on purpose—just because I charged you for breakfast the other day, right?"
"Fair trade. If you don't want to pay, spit it out."
Bernard sat upright, a napkin in hand, elegantly wiping his sharply defined lips. Even such a simple act carried an effortless air of innate nobility.
"Spit it out…?"
Damn it, it's already out the other end. How the hell am I supposed to spit it back?
She was fuming.
