He sat across from Vivian Donovan, scrutinizing her face. Even after a night, he still hadn't quite adjusted.
"Why are you staring?"
Vivian glanced at Bernard while sipping her porridge and touched her cheek. "Is there something on my face?"
Bernard lowered his gaze, scrolling silently on his phone.
When he didn't respond, Vivian pouted and resumed eating.
Halfway through, she abruptly looked up, eyes locked on him. "Bernard… do you have feelings for me?"
She touched her face again. "You like Lily. Are you seeing her in me now?"
With sudden 'realization,' she snatched a pillow and held it in front of her like a shield, then patted herself down. "You bastard! What did you do to me last night? Spill it—my backside's killing me. Was it you?"
Bernard's fingers froze on the screen. He raised an eyebrow, his expression darkening.
Was that really how she saw him—so low?
"Put it down. Get out."
No explanation. Just a calm, cutting remark that barely masked his anger.
