Chapter 65 A Clash with Bernard
He didn't ask a single question—just raised his glass and drained it.
Before Bernard Jacobson had even set his glass down, Vivian Donovan had already picked up her second glass of wine and tilted her head back to drink.
Rich crimson wine spilled from the corner of her lips, trickling down her chin and cascading onto the delicate hollow of her collarbone, accentuating her intoxicating allure.
Vivian set the glass down, grabbed the wine bottle, and poured herself another glass of red.
Her eyes, glazed with anger and wine, locked onto Bernard. One hand propped the bottle; the other held the stem of her glass. Her red lips curled into a mocking smile as she sneered, "Come on, one more toast to you. Congratulations… uh…"
She paused, as if searching for the right words.
Then she said, "Oh," and added, "Congratulations on your engagement to Lilith Whitehead. Wishing you a long and happy marriage—and may you be blessed with a son soon."
A scoundrel and a schemer—perfectly matched!
