Chapter 3783

“Has your sister ever hit you?” Austin freed a hand to adjust Louis's hat and scarf. He also tugged at Phillip, gesturing for the little boy to follow in his older cousin’s footsteps. The cold wind was howling, and he feared these two little ones might be blown away by the strong gusts. The two little boys replied in unison, “She has hit us, but it’s really rare. She really loves and cares about us.” “She only hits us when we make a really big mistake,” Louis added, afraid that Austin might think Isabella was a bad person. He quickly said, “She does it for our own good.” Austin laughed. “I really didn’t expect that someone as well-mannered as your sister would actually raise a hand on you. It shows just how big a mess you two must have made.” Austin thought this was good. It was necessary for the two boys to have someone they feared. Otherwise, if they were spoiled too much, they would become unruly, and as they grew older, the messes they made would only get bigger, which would not be good for them. It would only harm them instead of helping them. In this generation, the O'Connor family had only two boys—Louis and Phillip. Their parents, uncles, and aunts doted on them to the extreme. Even the extended family and friends spoiled them. Without someone to discipline them, they really would not turn out well. Isabella, their eldest sister, was the most suited for the role. Not only was she Louis’s biological sister, but she was also the head of the O'Connor family. She had the status, position, and authority to do so. When she disciplined the boys, even their parents dared not say anything. If they could not stand it, all they could do was leave and go somewhere else to avoid witnessing it. They did not dare interfere with Isabella’s way of educating her brothers. With such a strict sister in charge, the two little ones, while spoiled by everyone, were not ruined by it. Instead, they were taught to be polite and well-behaved. Louis and Phillip stuck out their tongues. The three of them entered the office building. Before entering, the boys pulled their scarves up in perfect synchrony, covering their faces completely. Once inside, the coldness they previously felt gradually retreated, replaced by the comforting warmth of the indoor heating. “Mr. York,” the receptionists greeted Austin politely upon seeing him enter. Austin smiled and nodded in response. Louis and his brother rarely appeared in public as the O'Connor family worked hard to protect them. It was very difficult for the local media to get a clear shot of the two brothers. On the rare occasions that the media managed to take a photo, Isabella would send someone to buy all copies and even the film, making sure the photos were never published. This was to prevent bad people from targeting the two boys and kidnapping them for ransom. The receptionists could not even get a good look at the two little boys before they followed Austin through. They were wearing hats and scarves and were so thoroughly covered up that it was impossible for anyone to see their faces. The receptionists did not dare to ask who they were either. Even if they had guessed their identities, it was too late for them to get a clear look. Even if they were employees of the company belonging to the boys’ family, not being able to see their facial features was still a form of protection for the boys. Who knew if someone might be bribed? Austin did not notice this at first. When he realized the two boys had kept their faces covered with their scarves ever since they entered the building, leaving only their bright eyes exposed, he finally understood.
