Chapter 75 02
She hadn t thought much about it even when she dived into the stream head first to have a swim. The water was cold but she had enjoyed every bit of it that she even forgot who she was together with or what they were supposed to be doing. They had eaten their dinner and at the moment, Danika just realized when she was pulling herself out of the stream that she hadn t seen Ezra in a while. And just like that, he appeared in front of her with a hardened expression.?
Forgetting how drenched she was, she decided to take a step forward, the water dripping endlessly from her clothes. "Where have you been to, Your Majesty?" The only light gleaming was the one coming from the moon and the one he had set up in front of their tent before he disappeared to go knew where.
He lifted two blankets that looked so homey and immediately, Danika felt asleep. "I went to Rotherham to get these blankets..." His words stopped midway when he realized what she had been doing and the way water was dripping down from her body was cringing the life out of him. "What the hell is that? What did you do?" He looked so angry that she turned by her side to see if he was speaking to someone apart from her.
Before she could reply him, all she felt was the shoot of an arrow and it passed by her arm, grazing the flesh of her arm as it went ahead and fell down. Swiftly, Danika groaned in pain and knelt down while she held her hand in a manner that showed how much painful it felt. Ezra turned, the red color of his eyes illuminating through the dark that Danika knew even if they didn t have fire with them, the color of his eyes would ve provided the little light they wanted.
Blood started oozing out of the wound and she clenched her eyes shut. "Who the hell was that?!" He turned to the direction the arrow was shot from but all they could hear was the sounds of footsteps as whoever it was ran away from the scene.?
He wanted to follow the person that had just shot her but he knew Danika needed more of his attention now. He turned to her, at how blood was dripping from the wound and how she was groaning in pain. "Let s get you inside first." She didn t object when he pulled her into his arms and carried her into the tent.?
He moved toward her when she took a step back and stared at his face with an expression that told him she was nothing but afraid of him. "I can manage by myself, I'll just have to tie the place, it s just a graze of the arrow over my flesh, nothing much."
Ezra wanted to tame down his anger, but it was becoming more prominent with each passing second. "What do you mean? I'd heal the wound as though it has never been there! Stay still and let me treat you!" He took a step forward and once again, Danika moved back while she shook her head. She knew he might have never sucked her blood before or even tried to show her he was more powerful than her, but today, they were alone. He seemed angry for his blood thirsty to be more than he could withhold and she was the only human he could easily lay his eyes on. She wasn t going to take any chances.?
"I told you I can manage. I can even hunt, if that s what s bothering you and I'll see a doctor once we re back home." She didn t let him see how blood was dripping out of the wound lest he became even more thirsty for blood.
When he took his time staring at her face with a hardened expression, Danika took that as him contemplating whether to do it or not, but they were the only ones. Wether he wanted to do it or not, he would have to. "Can you please go out? I need to change out of these clothes." She wanted to see if there was a way she could escape. She knew that she couldn t go back t the palace now, didn't even know which way to follow even if she unhooked Zetta, but she had to escape from this man tonight.?
Maybe she would got o Riah, as much as her sister hated her, Danika knew she would never kill the Queen. Especially if everyone saw her with her. "What do you mean by this, Danika?" Anger dripped from each word he had uttered that with each step he took forward while she took the same backward, Danika felt a chill ran down to her spine.
"What else do I mean? I want to get changed, or do you want me to do that in your presence, Your Majesty?" She doubted if he had waited until she finished her sentence when he yelled at her.
"Damn the formality, Danika?! This..." He was pointing at the fear she was sure was prominent in her eyes and how her body was slowly trembling with fear even though it could be mistaken for the pain she felt which was close to the truth, but he had seen beyond her thick flesh. His fangs shone and his eyes illuminated more in the darkness of the room that she felt her feet coiling, "Do you think I could..." He let his words trailed off and when he took the next step, he was standing right in front of her that if she were to make a slight move, they could have their bodies meshed. "That I could kill you? Suck your blood or do some sort of nonsense a powerful vampire could do to a powerless human?" Anger, resentment and something she couldn t decipher dripped from each word he had uttered and she shivered under his agonizing stare.
"I need to get changed..." She stammered, the pain in her arm more excruciating than ever that she thought how she would be able to manage to stay there for two days and she was even expected to hunt.?
"Quite the drama and face me like you ve always done." He moved closer to her that she wondered how much he wanted to be in her for him to stand that close. She wasn t even breathing!
It was her turn to become angry now, she saw no reason why he would be angry. "She did, not me! She was a Queen feared by everyone she had met, respected by whoever wanted to live long, but I'm not! If she had faced you fearlessly, that amounted to how powerful she felt, she was a vampire too, what could you have done to her?! What about me? I'm as powerless as the chase we are determined to hunt down tomorrow!" He opened his mouth but she beat him at it, "Just get out, please. I can manage by myself, so well."
With on swift movement of his hand, something flashed through her eyes and it only took a few seconds before she realized that he had taken her clothes off and there was warmth in the room for her not to feel cold. She was standing in front of him only in her bra and pant that she felt so naked to the point that she could kill this man if she could. She had rarely seen magic been used by him or any other person since when she became the Queen, but she had seen it today. And instead of being terrified, she was as angry as a bull.
"What the hell do you think you re doing?!" She thundered and punched his chest without a second thought. And when her arm squeezed in pain, she retracted the hand and tenderly placed her palm over the wound.?
She felt his hands on her shoulders as he stared into her ears even though he was still angry, there were more emotions in his eyes. "I told you to stay still, I would make it as though you ve never been hurt. What s wrong with you, Danika?"?
She looked up at him with anger filled in her orbs, "Whatever is wrong with that thick 500 years old dated brain of yours! Who the hell do you think you are to do this?" She briskly looked down at her almost naked body and how it gleamed under the color of his eyes before she looked up at him, "What were you thinking? I asked you to get the hell out of my eyes but you stripped me off in your presence to show me how powerful you were or what?!" She angrily shrugged off his hands over her and pushed him away from her no matter how painful her arm felt, "Just get the hell out of my sight or I could easily show you how powerful I can be." She stared directly into his eyes that were now filled with anger and undeniable lust, "Do not ever underestimate me, Ezra. And for that," she pointed into his desire filled eyes, "I don t mind if you kill all the people we came to hunt with, that's solely your problem."
She turned away from him and walked to where they had placed their clothes in the tent. She was aware of his eyes on her. Of how hungrily he must ve been staring at her from where she was certain he stood. She was trying to painfully pull on her nightgown when she felt his presence beside her and his palm tenderly touched the wound on her arm. "What the..." She began, but when she felt the searing pain she had once felt vanished in a thin air, she turned to look at him.?
"What have you done?" She dumbly asked, throwing the gown away as she brought her hand forward to inspect it. The only thing there that could show a sign of her being wounded by an arrow was the blood, but there was nothing else. She flexed her arm lightly and felt no pain and like the childish one she was, she looked up into his eyes with nothing but a gratuitous smile, all anger forgotten. "It s no longer paining, not even a scar is left!" She was amazed, and even though he loomed over her with so much desire in his eyes, she couldn t hide the fact that she was both thankful and amazed at what he had just done to her arm.?
He pulled her to him and gave her a bone crushing hug. He didn t know how he would e able to stop himself from this insatiable urge of desire, but he thought hugging her might make him feel less of what he was feeling. He rested his head on her shoulder and felt how still she had become under his touch. He hated fighting with her, for no one ever angered him the way she did. "I told you that I'll make it in a way that it has never been there."
Stupidly, yet again, Danika nodded her head and smiled softly, still not believing that the wound has vanished. "Yes, that I've heard and believed." They stayed like that for a while, the soft skin of her naked breast brushing against his chest that Ezra wished he hand t made the mistake of hugging her. "I need to get my nightgown on, it s slightly cold." He knew it wasn t cold, he had made the tent warm enough for her in a way that she could even sleep without her clothes on.?
But he didn t want them to fight again, he pulled her away from his chest and stared at how she looked, tirelessly hiding her chest from him with her nightgown. As innocent as she had never looked in his eyes, Danika lifted her eyes deep into his, "You shouldn t have touched me," she said. She knew desire when she saw one, even though the only person that had ever desired her was this man right there.
"I know," he nodded in agreement and sighed. Slowly, he cupped her face and tilted her face in a position that if he were to kiss her, she was certain it would be the passionate kiss of her life. "And I want to do more than just touch you. I know I can t force myself on you but I can at least kiss you, right?" She was hesitant for a minute, before she silently nodded her head at him. Even though they both knew they were making a mistake they would regret later, for this would get back at him and there was no slaves den for him to venture into tonight and she was in no way ready to give in to his demands. But when his warm lips coalesced with hers and she felt his strong arms bringing her almost naked body closer, Danika felt that this mistake was worth taking even though he would suffer the most in it.?
