She vented her emotions recklessly, gripping the bottle of wine tightly in her hand and pouring it into her mouth. The liquid spilled from the corners of her lips, glistening under the moonlight, making her look especially tormented. "Callie!" Nelson immediately intervened. "You can't drink like this. Slow down." He pulled her arm toward him, snatching away the half-empty bottle. Callie's movements were erratic, her hair sticking to the corner of her mouth. She looked as disheveled as one could be. Half-dazed, she stared at Nelson with confusion in her eyes. "Ahmad is in poor health, almost dying, and only then did they think of me—of my child. All they care about is profit, isn’t it?" Nelson stood quietly, his expression calm and gentle. Raising his hand, he smoothed the strands of hair stuck to her face.
