Chapter 6

*JANELLE* “Go on. Go pick more dresses. Buy anything you want.” I heard the man say to the woman, dotingly. I got startled when I heard a voice behind me. “That room is for VIPs. You can't go in. Use that one.” It was the sales attendant from earlier. “Oh." I nodded at her and headed to the right room. When I was changing my clothes in the fitting room, I kept thinking about the man and the woman. In their conversation, it seemed that they had talked about the Moore family. Could it be about my family? Was that man my soon to be husband? I didn’t see his face though. But I couldn’t help but wonder. After changing my clothes, I came out of the fitting room and looked to the left room. The door had been closed, properly. “You look good, ma’am.”The attendant said to me. I have to admit she had a good taste. Basically, she could pick out the suitable clothes for someone right away. I was on a light blue dress, which made my skin look more white. The lace on my waist outlined my slender waist. I was skinny, but my cheeks were very delicate. I felt really beautiful in this dress. And it seemed my so called father was okay with it as well. He paid and said in a cold voice, "Let's go." I had already known he was heartless, but I still felt sad and pained for his coldness. I lowered my head and followed him into the car. ********* Soon the car stopped in front of the gate of the Moore family’s Villa. The driver opened the door for Gary. He bent down and walked out of the car, and I followed him. Standing at the door of the villa, I was in a trance for a few seconds. It was hard to believe that I once lived here, comfortably. I once lived here with my mother, Danica and Gary. But then one day, we got kicked out and made to live miserably while my father and his mistress happily lived in this huge villa. What did we ever do to deserve that? My teeth clenched. “Why are you still standing there?" Gary who was already standing by the huge doors, turned around and glared at me. I hurried up to him. When Gary heard the servants say that the O’Connells family had not arrived yet, he asked me to wait in the living room. There was a piano near the French window in the living room, which was produced in Germany and very expensive. My mother bought it for me on my seventh birthday. I loved music a lot when I was young. I began to learn piano at the age of four and a half. After we were sent away by Gary, I never played any piano again. I couldn't help but reach out my hand, the memory of playing the piano made me feel excited. I placed my index finger on the piano key and gently pressed it. With a clank, a melodious and crisp sound came from the piano. Because I had not played it for a long time, my fingers were quite stiff now. “Get your dirty hands off my piano!” An angry voice sounded behind me. My piano? I turned around and saw Kara standing behind me, looking pissed. I can still recall that I was one year older than her. She should be twenty now. She took after her mother in almost everything, especially her looks. Yeah, I hated to admit but my father’s mistress was very beautiful. And so Kara was incredibly pretty as well. "Your Piano?” They ruined my mother's marriage and took everything. Now even my mother's gift to me had fallen into her hands? My fist clenched as I tried very hard to control my temper. I have to be more patient because I had no ability to take back what belonged to me now. I have to endure because soon, I would not tolerate this. I was not also the little girl anymore who was sent away by my father years ago and only knew nothing but crying. Now I had grown up! And I was going to get back on my feet. “So you are Janelle.”Kara drawled, staring at me from head to toe. “I bet you’re happy that Dad brought you back?" Kara crossed her arms around her chest and looked at me with disdain. "Don't be so happy. You will marry into the O’Connells family. Every knows that the man is…” Kara paused and then burst into laughter. I frowned. “What do you know about him?” I was still very curious as to why Gary would let me marry a billionaire instead of Kara. I already knew that there was something wrong with that billionaire. Because if there was nothing wrong, Gary would not even think of coming to find me. But whatever was wrong with that man, it couldn’t be that bad, right?
