Chapter 49
Anna's cold came fast and hard. Julian didn't mess around—called in a whole team of doctors to check her out. In the end? Just a cold.
One IV drip and a bag full of imported meds later, they were back in the car.
People with colds get sleepy, and Anna wasn't an exception. She knocked out halfway home, head resting on Julian's leg.
"Tom, once we're back, hand her over to Megan for me. I've gotta swing by the old house."
Tom nodded as he drove. But when they reached the villa, Julian changed his mind.
He ended up carrying Anna upstairs himself, being extra careful. After going over every detail with Megan about what Anna needed, he finally left.
The detour cost him some time. By the time he got to the old Blake residence, it was already past ten at night.
In the spacious study, father and son sat across from each other. They looked strikingly alike, though one was clearly aging.
Charles Blake picked up his teacup and took a slow sip before breaking the silence. "You came alone tonight?"
