"Is saying you like me really that hard?"
A soft night breeze swept through, lifting the sheer white curtains in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows. The air carried a faint floral scent, so relaxing that it made you want to close your eyes and drift.
That sentence kept looping in Anna's mind.
There they were—just standing across from each other, staring like a pair of confused cats. Time almost felt frozen.
Anna blinked a few times. Julian looked at her with this quietly encouraging gaze, clearly waiting for something. She finally opened her mouth—only to blurt out the kind of thing that could make someone want to bang their head against a wall.
"You like me."
Julian: "..."
And with that, Anna shot up like she'd sat on a tack, tossed out an "Oops, bathroom emergency!" and dashed for the restroom.
If a track coach had been there, they'd have immediately tried to recruit her.
Julian stared at the bathroom door for a long beat before letting out a soft, helpless laugh.
