Chapter 320

The message was clear. Let Eliana handle it. Eliana shooed away the maids and glared at Justin with a grim look. Without any warning, she raised her hand and struck him across the cheek. Justin was taken aback, unable to process what just happened. She demanded, "Did you do this?" "W-What?" Justin looked as if he had no idea what had happened. "What's going on? What did I do? I-I didn't do anything at all…" "Justin, there's no one else here. We've found everything. Are you still not going to confess?" Eliana grabbed a cardboard box and slammed it forcefully on the table. "Can you see clearly now?" A box filled with tightly packed mini cameras. Justin was stunned. "What…What are these?" He seemed as if he didn't recognize them at all. Eliana scoffed, "How dare you ask me that? Aren't you supposed to be more in tune with this situation than I am?" Justin was completely clueless about the situation. He looked at the staircase nervously and asked, "Why did Mr. Hasting return without warning?" "Scared?" "I…" Justin felt puzzled, and he struggled to find the right words. Eliana's hand flew up and landed another sharp slap across his face. "After all I've done for you, how could you still betray me?" "No, I didn't betray you. What happened? If you want me to die, at least give me a reason why I should do so!" Eliana studied his expression, but he looked genuinely clueless. It didn't seem fake, so she decided to open up about the photos. Her guard was still up, though. "How can you deny it? Who else here has the capability to set up such extensive surveillance cameras but you?" Justin's face drained of color and he was trembling with fear. "It's not me. It's really not me. I could never do something like that! Did Mr. Hasting find out about our affair?" Eliana remained silent, closing her eyes and sinking into the couch in defeat. This was only the beginning of her troubles. The worst was yet to come. Justin's legs turned to jelly and he nearly stumbled as he protested, "This isn't me! Trust me. Why would I even joke about something like this?" He quickly crouched down in front of Eliana, pleading his case over and over again. "I swear, it wasn't me. You have to believe me. After all these years together, how could you believe such a thing? Just think about it, it doesn't make any sense. What would be my motive? What would I possibly gain from doing this?" "Who knows what you are thinking?" "No, really. How can I convince you to believe me? Or, if I were to end my own life right now, you should be able to trust me, right?" Justin's unwavering loyalty had been unquestionable. But, as the saying goes, you should never judge a book by its cover. Even one's own son might not be entirely trustworthy. Hold on a second, her son. A thought suddenly struck Eliana, causing her to break out in a cold sweat. She whispered to herself, "No, this can't be happening. It's not possible…" It couldn't be Samuel! Frantically, Justin asked, "What won't happen? Did you figure out who did it?" Eliana's complexion turned pale and her lips quivered. She remained silent for what felt like an eternity. … Samuel was cheerful as he spent his days in South Haven with Shelmaine, enjoying their little world together. They shared meals and took leisurely walks, living their lives as a married couple. Their days were tranquil and uninterrupted. Shelmaine's body was also healing nicely.
