Chapter 19
Willow refused to believe Alden's words.
He'd make it up to her? The wounds he'd left were carved into her bones. How could they ever be undone?
She turned and strode into her room, slamming the door behind her. Only when Alden knocked, calling her to eat, did she finally emerge.
After pushing the door open, she froze. Alden stood in an apron with his sleeves rolled up to his elbows. The lean muscles of his forearms were revealed.
The table was laid with several dishes, each of which looked mouthwatering. They were all her favorites.
"You made these?" she asked, arching a brow.
"Yeah." His voice was quiet. "Didn't want anyone else interfering."
Willow sneered. "Did you learn to cook for Vivian?"
Alden's fingers stiffened, and pain flashed in his eyes. "Lo, please. Don't bring her up again."
But Willow wouldn't let it go. She kept prodding him at the dinner table.
"Vivian had a sweet tooth, didn't she? You must've made desserts for her all the time.
