The moment the examination ended, Leon and Stella anxiously asked, "Doctor, how is he?"
The doctor was a middle-aged man with graying hair, but his eyes were sharp and steady. When he spoke, his deep, magnetic voice carried a calm authority. "Don't worry. So far, the surgery has been a success.
"As for the spinal injury, it depends on his recovery. The internal organ damage from the accident also means we'll need to monitor for post-op infections…"
Leon left Stella and Margaret to stay with Lester while he pulled the doctor outside. Once the door was shut behind them, he asked softly, "What about his legs? Is there a chance he'll walk again?"
The doctor didn't answer right away. He paused for a moment before saying, "There's a possibility. His basic neural reflexes are still responding, but we won't know for sure until we see how he progresses."
