Chapter 15

Margaret turned her head in disbelief. The spot where she had just stood was now a total wreck. A stage light had fallen from above, smashing into the wooden stage and leaving behind a deep crater and jagged cracks that stretched outward. Miles, who had dashed onto the stage just in time, was holding her tightly. The light fixture had struck him in the leg, and the shattered glass littering the stage from broken bulbs had cut into both their legs. The scene was a mess. Backstage crew, their classmates, and students from the audience all rushed forward in a frenzy. Miles held the seemingly shell-shocked Margaret in his arms, asking repeatedly if she was alright. He then noticed that her gaze seemed to be fixed on something in the distance. Following her line of sight, he saw the same woman who had hit Margaret with her car and later gotten into a fight with her.
